How to upgrade the ship's cargo capability?
Every ship in No Man's Sky has a certain number of slots for technology and cargo. You can increase the number of cargo slots through a dedicated terminal found on every space station.
Terminal also allows you to upgrade a starship to a better class, which will increase the maximum amount of space available.
More on spaceship upgrades, their classes and types, and buy/sell mechanics can be found on a dedicated page - Ships.
Ship's technology blueprints
The technology blueprints found below can be bought from a vendor on Space Anomaly, received as rewards for completed tasks or found during exploration. Each module has to be installed in a free corresponding slot and needed materials have to be supplied.
Pulse Engine:
- Instability Drive - an upgrade for the pulse engine which greatly lowers fuel consumption. Cost - 460 nanites;
- Flight Assist Override - improves the ship's maneuverability. Cost - 460 nanites;
- Sub-Light Amplifier - increases the Pulse Engine speed. Cost - 460 nanites;
Accessories:
- Teleport Receiver - allows sending and receiving items between ships over long distances. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Economy Scanner - supplies the star system's economy data without having to warp to it. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Cargo Scan Deflector - jams cargo scans. Cost - 150 nanites.
- Conflict Scanner - allows to check the conflict level of a system without having to warp to it. Cost - 150 nanites;
Hyperdrive:
- Emergency Warp Unit - allows warping during combat, however you cannot plot a destination, and using it requires often repairs. Cost - 240 nanites;
- Cadmium Drive - allows warping to Red systems; Cost - 150 nanites;
- Emeril Drive - allows travelling to Green systems. Cost - 120 nanites;
- Indium Drive - allows reaching Blue systems. Cost - 200 nanites.
Launch Thruster:
- Efficient Thrusters - lowers fuel consumption during takeoff. Cost - 120 nanites;
- Launch Auto-Charger - allows automatic recharging of fuel when the ship is grounded. Cost - 460 nanites.
Deflector Shield:
- Ablative Armour - greatly increases the ship's shield durability. Cost - 85 nanites.
Starship - Combat Systems
All combat systems blueprints can be bought at Space Anomaly, found during exploration, or received as a reward for completing tasks. Such a module has to be installed in a corresponding, free, slot and built by delivering necessary materials.
There are six different combat systems, with additional upgrades:
- Nonlinear Optics - boosts damage dealing capabilities of the photon cannon. Cost - 75 nanites;
- Rocket Launcher - equips the ship with torpedoes. There is an upgrade for it called Large Rocket Tubes (cost - 50 nanites) that increases starting speed and offers faster heat recovery. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Phase Beam - a weapon that launches a powerful high-energy beam. There is an upgrade for it called Fourier De-Limiter (cost - 120 nanites) that increases heat performance. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Positron Ejector - installs a weapon that deals great damage on short ranges. Can be upgraded with Fragment Supercharger (cost - 120 nanites) that increases the accuracy and effective range of the weapon. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Infra-Knife Accelerator - adds a fast-firing cannon effective against unshielded starships. Can be upgraded with Q-Resonator (cost - 120 nanites) that increases the weapon clip size. Cost - 150 nanites;
- Cyclotron Ballista - a weapon that fires projectiles that can disable the engines of the targeted starship. Can be upgraded with Dyson Pump (cost - 120 nanites) that greatly increases heat performance. Cost - 150 nanites.
Starship Technology Blueprints
Starship technology blueprints can be bought from a dedicated vendor on every space station, found in crashed starships, received as a reward for completing a task or by repairing a damaged vessel.
Different space stations offer different prices for the same blueprints. As a result, check each vendor and get acquainted with his wares and compare the prices.
