Many new devices and resources have been added to the game with the No Man's Sky Next update. This changes many gameplay elements and forces you to change your habits.
One of the major changes in No Man's Sky NEXT is the addition of Portable Refiner, a construction equipment that processes and purifies raw materials. It will enable you to expand your base and improve your spacecraft.
How to make the Portable Refiner?
If you have started a new game, you can find the Portable Refiner before you leave the first planet. When you are given the task of repairing spacecraft's engines. To complete the mission and leave the planet, you'll need to produce Pure Ferrite. To do this, you will need a portable refining device which you will be asked to build as part of your mission.
If you are loading an old save game then you should have the device in your inventory. To find it, press the inventory key, take out the device and place it on the planet's surface. Later you can pack your Portable Refiner and take it to any place you wish.
How to use the Portable Refiner?
To use a Portable Refiner you need to approach and interact with the device. Then you will be able to put in it the resource you want to process or add fuel.
You can use various types of fuel to power the Portable Refiner. However, the most effective and cheapest is carbon, which you can find by exploring the planet. Other good fuels are phosphorus, oxygen, tamium9 and plutonium.
What resources can be processed?
Portable Refiner is used to process raw materials, thanks to which they become much better and useful in constructing advanced items / structures. This allows you to improve the base and the spacecraft, you can even create different kinds of accessories and decorations.
