This page of the guide to Gran Turismo 7 explains whether you can play the game offline. This information may important for players with an unstable internet connection.
Permanent connection with game servers - what does it mean?
Gran Turismo 7, just like Gran Turismo Sport, requires constant connection with the servers. If complications arise you'll receive a CE-210701 error message, which could be caused by:
- Issues with your internet connection.
- Issues with the game servers.
- Issues with PlayStation Network (PSN).
You must know that if you lose connection mid-game you may lose some of your progress. For example, you may be forced to restart a race or an entire championship if you were disconnected in the middle of it.
Since its release GT7 has experienced a single major server crash caused by implementing the 1.07 update. Aside from that we haven't experienced any other issues, so the servers should be stable.
Playing offline - is it possible?
Gran Turismo 7 theoretically features offline play, but many features of the game are heavily limited in this state.
Playing Gran Turismo 7 offline prevents you from saving any of your progress. You can't progress the career mode (even though it's considered a single player mode), obtain credits, purchase cars, attempt license challenges or missions.
The only modes available offline are:
- Music Rally - time trials with background music
- Drift Trial - drift challenges
- Time Trial - timed challenges
- Single Race - single races against the AI
Always try to reconnect with the game servers, otherwise you may end up spending several hours with the game and gain nothing due to your progress not being saved.
