On this page of the guide to Genshin Impact, you'll learn everything related to Withering Zone. We have prepared a number of tips on what to pay attention when entering a contaminated area, what you need to do to clear it and what rewards you will receive for doing this task.
Withering Zone - what is it?
When you first arrive in Sumeru, you will encounter the Withering Zone in some places. These are contaminated zones that cause your characters to receive Decay. It is a red gauge located above the health of the hero. As it increases, your team will receive debuffs, for example, reduced immunity by 4% for each Decay unit and 4% decreased maximum health.
Moreover, when the entire red gauge fills up, after a short moment, all your characters will die. Therefore, it's better not to stay in contaminated areas for too long.
Decreasing Decay
In the contaminated area, you may notice monuments with green orb. These are called Candles of Life. Standing next to them will cause the accumulated Decay to decrease. So, if your gauge is almost completely filled, get to them a fast as possible.
Cleaning Withering Zone
To begin the process of cleaning the location, you should first locate an object called Dendrograna (on the screen above). You can interact with the Dendrograna to get a buff. Three green projectile will appear around you.
Next you should choose a character who fights with a bow, such as Childe or Diona. Locate all the red flowers, they should be nearby. All you have to do is aim at them and shoot an arrow, and the Dendrograna's projectile will fly towards them. That way you will destroy the flower. You have to repeat this step several times until you get rid of all the red plants.
Some of them may even shoot back at you. If they hit you, they will inflict damage and speed up the process of filling the red gauge. However, this depends on the distance from which the flower received damage from the Dendrograna's projectile.
If it hit the flower when you were very close, there will be explosion after a short while. Move back as soon as you can. If the flower was hit when you was at the moderate distance from there, on the ground will appear red marks. Touching them will make you suffer damage. However, being far from the flower will make it send three projectiles in your direction.
Be careful when you get rid of the contamination of the red flower. There is a good chance that this will make opponents to appear and you will have to defeat them.
After completing the task and getting rid of all the flowers, you will be attacked by the final opponent. Depending on the given Withering Zone, the placement of the flowers and enemies types can vary. Nevertheless, it is worth defeating each enemy as fast as possible to prevent the Decay gauge from filling up.
When the opponents are defeated, a Tumor of the Withering will appear in the middle of the Withering Zone. Quickly approach this object and interact with it to get rid of contamination.
Rewards
After clearing the zone and destroying the Tumor of the Withering, a chest will appear (most often of Exquisite rarity) in which you will find a few artifacts, money, or weapon upgrade materials.
