Warcraft Video Game Series
Warcraft
The immensely popular series of real-time strategy games set in the high fantasy world of Azeroth, inhabited by humans, orcs, elves, dwarves and undead, among others. The brand was created and developed by Blizzard Entertainment, known for its series of Diablo and StarCraft.
The first game in the series: WarCraft: Orcs & Humans saw the light of day in 1994 for PC and Macintosh computers. In it we can stand on one of two sides of the conflict: humans, defending the kingdom of Azeroth, or orcs, who are trying to conquer it. The production was very well received among players and reviewers, encouraging the development team of Blizzard Entertainment to create a sequel. This one appeared on store shelves a year later for PC, Macintosh, PlayStation and Sega Saturn, and was titled WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness. It tells the story of another attempt by orcs to conquer Azeroth, made six years after the events of the original. Despite its modest budget, it turned out to be a huge hit, resulting in, among other things, an add-on released a year later WarCraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. The game didn't reveal its full potential until 1999, with the release of the Battle.net edition, adapted for multiplayer play via a network service designed by Blizzard. Players had to wait until 2002 for the sequel. Released then only on PC, the third part of the series, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (enhanced the following year with the add-on Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne), described as a Role Play Strategy, or a mix of RTS and RPG elements, is still sometimes considered one of the best real-time strategies in the history of the genre. Its plot tells the story of an alliance of orcs, humans and Night Elves, formed to repel the invasion of undead called the Night Legion. In 2020, we lived to see its revamped version, titled Warcraft III: Reforged, offering the basic version of the game and an add-on with refreshed visuals and gameplay improvements.
On the wave of the brand's success in 2004, Blizzard Entertainment decided to release a network MMORPG - World of WarCraft, which, despite the passage of years, remains the undisputed number one in its category (at the peak of its popularity, the number of subscriber accounts exceeded 12 million). In it, players learn the story of the conflict between the Alliance (humans, dwarves, Night Elves and gnomes) and the Horde (orcs, Tauren, undead and trolls), and were given a huge and diverse world to play in. Over the next several years, the title lived to see as many as seven major additions: The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion and Battle for Azeroth. In 2014, the free-to-play card game Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft premiered. Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft (later stripped of its subtitle) using the universe of WarCraft. It, too, lived to see numerous additions, and its popularity (100 million players in 2018) resulted in the creation of a new e-sports discipline.
Due to its gigantic popularity, the series of WarCraft has become a permanent part of mass culture, going far beyond the realm of video games. Among other things, the brand has seen adaptations in the form of board games, card games and RPGs (pan & paper), a series of more than 20 novels and story collections, as well as comic book releases. In 2016, a movie was released, produced by Legendary Pictures, called WarCraft: The Beginning, directed by Duncan Jones and starring Travis Fimmel. It had a budget of $160 million and box office profits of more than 400 million.

It takes us once again to the land of Azeroth known from previous games, where forces of humans, orcs, and night elves face invasion of undead known as Plague. Gameplay features mechanics typical of the series, but there are still some novelties. The most important is the introduction of heroes for every race, who gain experience and new special abilities that help us during battles. Additionally, third entry in the series features a cutscene-driven narrative. Warcraft III also has complex multiplayer, offering several modes through Battle.net network. Another attraction comes in the form of expanded editor, enabling us to modify almost every element of the game.

The sequel to the renowned RTS from 1994, developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness once again throws the players into the war-torn world of Azeroth. Although it has been over six years since the memorable defeat of the orcs, the invaders have not given up on their plans and now, with vengeance being their primary ambition, they have reached the borders of the human kingdoms by utilizing a giant armada of heavily armed ships. When it comes to the gameplay mechanics, the production is extremely similar to its predecessor; the player chooses one of the sides of the conflict and tries to defeat their foes by building up his base and creating a strong military. The gameplay for each of the races is remarkably similar, with distinct types of spells and spell-casters being the main difference between the factions. In contrast to the predecessor, in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness the developers have strayed away from scenarios played out in dungeons, and have prepared numerous varied environments and terrain types.

WarCraft: Orcs and Humans is an RTS set in a fantasy universe, and the debut game from Blizzard Entertainment (an American studio, previously going by the name Silicon & Synapse). The events of WarCraft: Orcs and Humans take place in a fantasy land of Azeroth, where the conflict between humans and orcs takes place. The players choose their side and attempt to conquer the other. Mechanics-wise, the game is somewhat reminiscent of Dune II by Westwood Studios, although here, the gameplay was supplemented with a number of new solutions. The main task of the player is to gather resources, develop the base, and produce new units to fight the enemy. For each side there are 12 missions, featuring some adventure elements, where, apart from defending their base and trying to destroy the enemies, the players will also have, for example, to level an enemy city, or go into the underworld to bring back fallen comrades.
Warcraft: Armies of Azeroth
Strategy
cancelled
A fan-made remake of the cult classic Warcraft III, a game originally developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment in 2002, by WCR_Team. The title is available as a free modification powered by the StarCraft II engine; to run it, the free Starter Edition of the game is sufficient. Warcraft: Armies of Azeroth faithfully recreates the story of the original game, which tells of the war between Humans, Orcs, the Undead, and the Night Elves that takes place in the land of Azeroth. The production does not alter the gameplay mechanics in any way, still offering a combination of a classical RTS and an RPG. Therefore, the game focuses on gathering resources, base development, training units, and commanding them into subsequent battles. What differentiates the game from the original Warcraft III are the clearly prettier graphics created from scratch while remaining true to the source. Armies of Azeroth uses the both the soundtrack and the voice-over from the original game.
Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans
