The world-renowned Warcraft brand celebrated its 30th anniversary not long ago. The event resulted in the announcement and release of remastered editions of both Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2. And while fans of the series are still surprised, some are already wondering if both titles in a refreshed version will also appear on platforms other than Battle.net, with Steam being the main one in mind. Will Warcaft 1 and Warcaft 2 Remastered be Released on Steam?
While the announcement of Warcraft 2 Remastered should not come as a surprise, as rumors about its creation have been in the media for quite some time, a refreshed version of the first Warcraft was unexpected. Fans of the brand have received quite a few gifts from Blizzard in a short period of time, as in addition to the remasters, Warcraft 3: Reforged also received an update. While it is something to celebrate, many people are not fully satisfied. The community is wondering whether the first two installments will appear on the Steam platform or not.
The answer is not easy. Nevertheless, the chances of this happening are rather doubtful. While Blizzard has indeed released Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 on Steam, one could argue that this move was purely for the sake of boosting their playerbase. It is worth noting that the studio's other games are unavailable on Valve’s platform. Let’s not forget that Warcraft 3: Reforged is only available on Battle.net. It is no different with Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 Remastered, at least for the moment. However, who knows, now Blizzard has a great chance to prepare a box of these 3 classic RTS in a remastered form and sell it on other platforms. So, at this point there is not much to get excited about releasing these games on Steam, but we will see whether this change in the future.
