Warcraft I: Remastered
Release Date: November 13, 2024
A new version of the first part of the cult RTS series by Blizzard Entertainment. Warcraft I: Remastered offers greatly refreshed graphcis, but there are also many changes to the gameplay, including the option to select more units within a single command.
Warcraft I: Remastered is a refreshed version of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the 1994 RTS that launched the cult series made by Blizzard Entertainment. The remaster was developed by the authors of the original and received new graphics and a number of conveniences.
Plot
Warcraft I: Remastered takes us to the fantasy land of Azeroth, which has become the arena of conflict between two feuding races – humans and orcs. Two story campaigns were prepared for the game. In the human campaign our task is to destroy the Horde, and when taking control over the orcs we must seal our position as the chief, achieving victory over humans and killing their king.
Gameplay
In Warcraft I: Remastered we view the action from a bird's eye view. During the game we focus on gathering resources (wood and gold), erecting buildings with various purposes (from town halls and farms, through barracks, to magical structures), as well as recruiting soldiers. We need the latter to be able to engage in real-time battles with enemy forces. We can send infantry, cavalry, and siege units into battle. Our subordinates can fight in close combat, rely on ranged attacks, or use magic.
The remaster features a number of improvements over the original. Among them, the most prominent are: the ability to select a larger number of units at once (in the original we could do this with a maximum of four), moving them around the map using the right mouse button (which we use to indicate the destination) and speeding up the pace of the game. Moreover, the authors focused on the interface, refreshing its appearance and enriching it with additional elements (such as health bars for the units).
Game modes
In the story campaigns in Warcraft I: Remastered we are not only concerned with destroying enemy bases, but also with saving and rebuilding cities, rescuing hostages, or organizing expeditions with units imposed on us. In addition to them, the game offers the possibility of fighting skirmishes.
Graphics
Warcraft I: Remastered stands out from the original thanks to refreshed graphic design. The presentation was maintained in a cartoonish stile, still remaining faithful to the original. We are also allowed to switch back to the original versions of units, maps, and effects at any time.
