WarCraft: Orcs & Humans is a real-time strategy game developed by Blizzard Entertainment in 1994. The players sides with one of two warring factions, either Orcs or Humans, and depending on that choice, he will either try to defend or conquer the land of Azeroth.
WarCraft: Orcs & Humans resembles Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty in many respects, although it has been enriched with a few completely new features. One of them is the possibility of grouping units and moving them around the map (alas, it is possible to select only four warrior at a given time). Another news is introduction of second building resource. In WarCraft: Orcs & Humans, apart from gold mining, it is necessary to chop trees down, both of which is carried out by workers. Then, another big novelty is attempt to enhance classic scenarios with an adventure element. In Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty, we had simple missions in which our task was to set up a base and destroy the enemy. In WarCraft: Orcs & Humans, building a base is not available in all scenarios. Sometimes we get a considerable army with the task of bringing down an enemy city or raid a dungeon to face dangerous enemies or free wounded heroes.
In total, the game offers 12 missions for each side of the conflict, a scenario editor, and multiplayer mode via LAN or the Internet. The audiovisual layer deserves a praise, especially the soundtrack which builds the atmosphere of fantasy battles. One of the biggest downsides of WarCraft: Orcs & Humans is the little variation of the units which makes the gameplay very similar until we get access to faction-specific spells.
