The definitive edition of one of the most famous real-time strategies in the history of electronic entertainment, which was originally released in March 1995. Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition offers the full content of the base game Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and the expansion Beyond the Dark Portal released a year later (although the developers also planned to include two additional mission packs).
The possibility of playing online for free using the Battle.net service gained Diablo and StarCraft much popularity. Alas, such feature was unavailable in older but still playable WarCraft II, so Blizzard Enteratinment decided to correct that mistake.
Visually, the game did not change at all, but the audio was re-recorded and therefore sounds a lot better. Battle.net Edition features both the Tides of Darkness campaign and the expansion pack Beyond the Dark Portal. Some news were introduced into the gameplay itself, such as grouping and saving selected units, better Fog of War, unit counter and the possibility of seeing our allies’ bases. The biggest change of all, though, is the implementation of Battle.net online service which quickly gained much popularity.
WarCraft II: Battle.net Edition is the final release of the cult game and definitely the best one. It features all that WarCraft II has to offer.

Warcraft 2 Returns as Mod for Warcraft 3: Reforged
Warcraft III: Reforged will receive a mod called Chronicles of the Second War. The mod will recreate the second installment, expanding it with new story background and gameplay mechanics.
