Warcraft 2 Returns as Mod for Warcraft 3: Reforged

Warcraft III: Reforged will receive a mod called Chronicles of the Second War. The mod will recreate the second installment, expanding it with new story background and gameplay mechanics.

Warcraft III: Reforged has proven to be a bitter disappointment to the fans, but as the saying goes, every could has a silver lining. This approach was used by modders who are working on Chronicles of the Second War - a modification that recreates Warcraft II on the engine of the reforged third installment. The project is advertised by a trailer available on YouTube - you can watch it below.

Chronicles of the Second War will not be a simple transfer of a familiar story to the new installment's engine. The team working on the project wants to expand the game's storyline with the achievements of Warcraft III and World of Warcraft, but the creators also use World of Warcraft: Chronicle (a series of books devoted to the history of Azeroth). The story itself will be linear, unlike in the original game. The authors also develop unique units for each of the factions, character voices and improved gameplay based on Warcraft III: Reforged mechanics. As you can see, the team is not lacking in ambition, and currently available materials give them an exemplary testimony. The mod can now be downloaded from Hive Workshop, but for now there are only four story missions available.
