Pokemon Video Game Series
The bestselling jRPG game series, which is one of the most important brands in the Nintendo Group's publishing portfolio. Development studios Game Freak and Creatures Inc. are working on the development of the series.
The creator of the series Pokémon is Japanese designer Satoshi Tajiri, who for several years tried to convince the heads of the Nintendo corporation of his idea. The result was the games Pokémon Red i Pokémon Green (and a little later also Pokémon Blue i Pokémon Yellow) released in 1996 for the GameBoy portable console. They launched the so-called first generation of the series, and their considerable popularity encouraged the Japanese giant to transfer the brand to the other consoles produced. Over the following years, all the titles within the brand are segregated precisely into these generations. The sixth of them debuted in 2013 with the release of the games Pokémon X i Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. It was the first attempt to show the series' mechanics in a 3D environment. The title was released worldwide simultaneously, the first time in the history of the series. A year later, the third-generation remake of the series was released - the games Pokémon Ruby i Pokémon Sapphire - titled Pokémon Omega Ruby i Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. In 2016, the seventh generation was released, represented by Pokémon Sun i Pokémon Moon. Their release was also an opportunity to celebrate the brand's 20th anniversary, so the action was set in the new Hawaiian-inspired region of Alola (referring by its sound to the word aloha). The eighth generation came to fans 3 years later in the form of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The previous narrative was interrupted in 2022 with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, where the developers presented the events of the universe taking place many years before the birth of Asha Ketchum. The ninth generation was put into the hands of players in 2022, with the release of the games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Over the course of more than two decades, the series Pokémon has seen more than a dozen games included in the mainstream (often released in several versions), as well as a number of spin-offs and remakes of older titles. An important part of the series is also Pokémon Go - a free mobile game produced by the Niantic studio. The title makes use of the camera and GPS technology, moving the entire gameplay into augmented reality. After creating your avatar, you are located on the world map, and the area generates Pokémon , which we can catch if we go to a specific place. The title received both very favorable and negative reviews, but quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, encouraging players to leave home, explore and meet new people. The production was sometimes criticized because of repeated accidents caused by inattentive users.
The action of the games in the series Pokémon takes place in a fantastic world inhabited by magical creatures - the titular Pokémon (from Japanese: pocket pets). Players usually direct the actions of their human trainers, taking part in exciting tournaments. The gameplay in most of them is based on schemes typical of RPGs and jRPGs. As the plot progresses, characters visit locations, perform tasks and develop the attributes of their charges. The games feature a large number of Pokémonthat you can add to your collection. The creatures belong to different classes and have different powers (often working on the principle of paper-scissors-stone), which they can use during duels with their fellows. At the same time Pokémon require appropriate treatment by their guardian.
The audiovisual setting of the games in the series Pokémon is adapted to the capabilities of individual platforms. Thus, older titles present simple, two-dimensional graphics, while newer titles generally already have three-dimensional visuals; invariably, however, their defining feature is a manga style.
Pokémon is one of the most profitable brands in the electronic entertainment industry. According to calculations by the Nintendo corporation, by March 2020, total sales of games in the series exceeded 368 million copies. The popularity of the series was reflected in mass culture, which translated, among other things, into numerous anime series and movies and manga comics, as well as countless gadgets.

A new edition of the franchise's classic installment. Along with Pokemon Gold, the game constitutes the so-called second generation of the main video game series. The original version had its debut in Japan in 1999, and was released for Game Boy Color. More than fifteen years later, the game returns, coming out for Nintendo 3DS. Pokemon Silver is set in a fictional world inhabited by the titular creatures. The player takes on the role of a beginner Pokemon trainer. Their goals are to catch all the species of monsters and to defeat the best trainers. Compared with the first generation, the game introduces a lot of novelties, such as a new region (completely new Pokemon can be found here), a day-night cycle, additional items, as well as Pokemon breeding mechanics. The core of the experience remained unchanged however, as the player explores the game world viewed from above, talks to NPCs, catches new Pokemon and competes against the encountered trainers. All of this is conveyed by 16-bit visuals complemented by music composed by Jun'ichi Masuda. Contrary to the original version, the edition for 3DS gives an opportunity to both play and exchange with others via the local wireless network. Additionally, the game supports the PokeBank application, so the player can transfer their subordinates to new installments of the series.
