A side-scrolling horror/adventure game. Detention is a debut project of Taiwanese studio Red Candle Games. The action of the game takes place in Taiwan during the 1960s, in the middle of martial law that lasted 37 years. We are taken to Greenwood, a high-school placed in a mountainous area. The players assume the role of two students who discover that the school became inhabited by wicked monsters known from local legends.

The game is played from a top-down view and the only thing the protagonist can rely on is the power of his own muscles. With his hands, the gorilla crushes the enemies, but can also grab and throw them.

The combat mechanics utilize the skillful use of two buttons: right attack and left attack.
