Action games. Wide category of games that require reflex, accuracy and agility. It includes, among other things, shooters (e.g. Call of Duty and Battlefield series) and action-adventure games (Tomb Raider). First and third person perspective (FPP/TPP) is used. In most cases we are playing as a character who has to defeat some enemies and reach a specific point. We can use a wide range of weapons, including pistols, rocket launchers, swords, knives and like. Action-adventure is a particular category within action games genre. Such titles put less emphasis on action and combat, focusing more on story, exploration and puzzles.

Thunder Tier One is a top-down tactical shooter developed by fragOut, an independent studio from Poland. The story in the game is set at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s when, in the face of growing influence of a terrorist organization called White Octopus, the titular Thunder Tier One - an elite military unit - is called up to service. A player assumes the role of the squad leader and is tasked with stopping the enemy organization before its members destabilize the global political situation.
Onward

A tactical shooter created by the indie developer Downpour Interactive. The game was developed for VR multiplayer matches, where the players use VR goggles and dedicated motion controllers. In Onward, players fight on modern battlefields in different environments, under changing weather conditions, and with the addition of a day-night cycle.

The action of Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour takes place in 21st century Los Angeles. During the game, we assume the role of the iconic tough-guy, Duke, who has to face the alien invaders.
Knack 2

A sequel to the three-dimensional platformer by the Japanese team of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Once again players take control of the titular Knack – a small robot which can absorb various objects to increase its size. Like the first game, Knack 2 uses TPP view, and the gameplay focuses on exploration, solving simple puzzles and fighting enemies. It is possible to play either by yourself or with another player.

The title was initially released on PC, then published on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U as an expanded edition called Jotun: Valhalla Edition featuring an additional game mode. Players are told the story of a Viking warrior named Thora who died an inglorious death. Before she passes through the gates of Valhalla, she needs to prove her worth to the Gods.

In the game, we play an unspecified hero, imprisoned in the macabre Brookhaven hospital, and we have to get out of this place. This task is hindered by a whole lot of terrifying monsters and the fact that we have to find the key to the door before leaving the stage.

A first-person shooter developed with VR headsets in mind. John Wick Chronicles is based on an American action movie from 2014. The virtual adaptation of Chad Stahelski’s and David Leitch’s film was published by Starbreeze AB, the team known for such titles as The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Payday. The protagonist is a “retired” murderer for hire, John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves in the movie.

A tactical team shooting FPS, inspired by the first installments of the cult Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series. In this game, we play the role of members of an international assault unit within Interpol and face dangerous drug cartels and terrorist organisations from all over the world. The game places particular emphasis on the planning and preparation aspect, which is as important here as the implementation of the mission itself.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate - Jack the Ripper

The story is set in the year 1888, 20 years after the events of the base game, and focuses on the hunt for the infamous serial killer known as Jack the Ripper. When Scotland Yard’s investigation proves ineffective and panic grows in the hearts of the citizens of London, the task of stopping the monster falls upon Jacob and Evie (the latter being the main protagonist this time).

Contrary to the original game though, Solstice Chronicles is a typical twin-stick shooter inspired by games such as Alienation or Helldivers. The player's task is to eliminate hordes of enemies, obtaining new weapons and developing the character. The story revolves around a mysterious virus that turns humans into bloodthirsty mutants.
Battlerite

An online battle game that combines the features of MOBA and action genres. Battlerite was developed by Swedish studio Stunlock, the creators of Bloodline Champions and Dead Island: Epidemic. The game is focused on fast, intensive battles of two small teams of players. Each participant controls one character selected from a roster of unique warriors. During the game the protagonists are gaining experience and unlock new abilities.
Niffelheim

A two-dimensional exploration action adventure game with RPG and survival elements, developed by the debuting Ellada Games. The action is set in a fantasy world inspired by Viking mythology. We assume the role of a warrior whose funeral ship has been kidnapped by demons and taken into a mythical kingdom of cold and ice, the eponymous Niffelheim. The cursed creatures want the protagonist to seek out for them an ancient artifact that threatens their existence.

In the game the player assumes the role of the titular prince who learns that he is meant to die because he released the mythical Sands of Time. The only way to avoid fate is to travel to a mysterious island where the powerful artifact that caused all the trouble was originally created. As one can assume, the road will be filled with traps and enemies.
