Dear Charlotte

Dear Charlotte is a first-person perspective action psychological survival horror released on PC, PS4 and XONE. The game was released in episodic form and it is the first title developed by independent Indian studio Method to Madness.

Plot

In Dead Charlotte for PC, PS4 and XONE the player assumes the role of a man named John who is a former patient of an impoverished research facility Quantic Medical. When an outbreak of a mysterious virus starts in the facility, the protagonist is saved by doctor Kremlin who seems to be the cause of the whole ruckus. In order to survive in this creepy place and solve its dark secrets, John will have to choose between following advices of a madman and what his own subconscious and senses tell him.

Mechanics

The action is shown from a first-person perspective and the gameplay belongs to the psychological survival horror genre which focuses on atmosphere and stealth instead of fast action and fighting hordes of enemies. The player cannot use any weapons and in order to survive the confrontation with terrifying monsters he must use his intuition and the ability to hide and escape. Observation sense will be also required since the survival will depend on solving the mystery of the events that occurred in the facility. However, this task is made harder by player’s companion, crazy doctor Kremlin whose pieces of advice aren’t always trustworthy. In addition to that, the protagonist must face amnesia and gradually increasing madness – in his mind the nightmare is frequently mixed with reality.

Technical aspects

Dear Charlotte for PC, PS4 and XONE is powered by Unreal Engine 4, an advanced engine that guarantees at least a decent level of graphics. During most of the time the player is traveling through dark corridors and rooms of the facility. Mysterious sounds and uneasy soundtrack complement the heavy atmosphere of the game.
