System requirements of Fortnite: Battle Royale Fortnite: Battle Royale Guide
Last update: 03 April 2018
Fortnite: Battle Royale, as a mode, has been developed entirely on the same engine as Fortnite, i.e. Unreal Engine 4. In spite of its cartoonish style, it draws extensively from cutting edge technologies, such as Screen Space Reflection, Depth of field or Ambient Occlusion. For a player who pays great attention to such effects, Fortnite will be a visual feast, especially when it comes to lighting and shading. At the same time, the game does not have too high requirements, although older computers may suffer problems with stable animation in the most demanding situations. There are plenty enough graphic options in Battle Royale to reach a compromise between how the game looks and performance, basing on the system you have. Optimization is high here, but this is partially due to the cartoonish style that eliminates rendering a multitude of polygons for each object.
Below, we have listed modifiable graphics options, along with their descriptions, thanks to which you will find the best settings:
- Resolution - Determines the game's resolution. Set native resolution of your screen to achieve satisfying quality of the displayed image. Setting lower resolution will result in blurring the screen.
- View Distance - Determines the number of objects rendered at the same time. The higher the view distance, the more GPU and CPU materials the game will need. The EPIC setting is recommended only for the highest-performance computers.
- Shadows- This option determines the rendering of shadows cast by objects. The higher the resolution and the more shadows, the more GPU materials will be required.
- Anti-Aliasing - Determines the level of smoothing-out edges in the game. With slower graphics cards, you should deactivate this option.
- Textures - Determines quality of textures in the game. The higher the quality, the more VRAM will be required. 2GB of VRAM is sufficient to set this option to HIGH/EPIC.
- Effects - determines the quality of displaying particle effects, such as explosions, bullet travel and all of alpha-effects in the game. This option uses up your CPU and GPU materials.
- Post Processing - determines the quality of visual effects, such as ambient occlusion or blur in movement. The higher the setting, the higher the strain on the GPU.
Our computer with Intel Core i5 4460, Radeon R9 270x 2GB and 8GB VRAM could maintain 60fps on high settings.
Our system
