Cross-platform in Fortnite Battle Royale Guide Fortnite: Battle Royale Guide
Last update: 15 May 2018
This chapter is devoted to the topic of cross-platform in Fortnite Battle Royale, the aspect or playing with people using platforms other than yours. As of today, linking accounts is child's play, but requires some steps from the user that are not visible at first sight. First things first, everyone, even console players, must first register their accounts on the Epic Games main page. Only once you have done it, you can think about playing with others.
Cross-platform and XBOX ONE
Before we can continue, a very important thing must be mentioned. Although cross-platforming in Fortnite is very flexible, players from Xbox One cannot, unfortunately, connect with people playing on PS4 and vice versa. The following table should illustrate this situation to you:
Platform | Windows/Mac | Xbox One | PlayStation4 | Mobile |
Windows/Mac | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Xbox One | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
PlayStation 4 | Yes | No | Yes | Yes |
Mobile | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Registering cross-platform
As it was mentioned earlier, people playing on Xbox One, PS4 and mobile devices must first register on the Epic Games home page. In the upper right corner of the screen, next to the yellow bar, there is a personal icon. The link will take you to a page where you can connect an existing Epic Games account with a PS4 or XOne account. If you do not have one, you have to create it first. As soon as you connect your accounts, you can enter the game on your platform and add a friend through the built-in system.
Note!
If you currently cannot add friends in the game, use the Epic Games platform. Download the application from the home page and then log into it using the account created earlier. After starting your own account, you will be able to add friends directly from the installed application.
In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that the players playing on consoles and mobile devices are the ones that must invite PC players to their team, not the other way around. If you play on a PC, the only option is to join a pre-existing team, created on other platforms.
