August changes | Fortnite Battle Royale

Update 5.20 - 07.08.2018
The first august update was numbered 5.20. The full list of changes can be found here.
- New weapon - Double Barrel Shotgun. It deals 150 damage, features two bullets in the magazine and is useful only in close combat.
- New LTM - Steady Storm. The storm circle is constantly changing.
- Balance of automatic weapons. From now on, legendary automatic weapons appear more frequently and the price of all items was reduced.
Balance changes - 09.08.2018
The second update introduces gameplay balances. The full list of changes can be found on the main page of Epic Games.
- Change of the default value of defense of structures (from 80 to 90, from 80 to 100, and from 80 to 110 for wood, stone, and metal). What does it mean? It won't protect you from explosive weapons, but from now on a wooden construction won't be destroyed with a single burst of assault rifles.
- Changes in two weapons - reduction of the usefulness of Spray and Pray tactics. Compact SMG efficiency was reduced. The same happened to the second drum gun - the weapon currently available in the vault.
Update 5.21 - 15.08.2018
Another bigger update. A heavy sniper rifle was added - its damage enables the players to eliminate opponents with a single accurate shot. The full list of changes can be found here.
- New weapon - Heavy Sniper Rifle. A monster that deals 150+ dmg. A single shot is able to destroy a metal construction.
- Reduced damaged of minigun headshots - from 2.5 to 1.5
- New limited time mode Soaring 50's.
- New (old) LTM - Sniper Shootout. This time the players can use the new .50BMG. What's important - assault rifles with a zoom were removed from the mode.
Update 5.30 - 23.08.2018
Update 5.30 introduces major changes to the game. In addition to balancing the previously available weapons, it adds a new item - Rift-to-go. The full list of changes can be found here.
Novelties:
- New item - Rift-to-go. As the name suggests, the item enables the players to use a rift in any place on the map.
- New LTM - Score Royale
Gameplay changes:
- From now on, the Clinger will explode only if its fuse fully depletes. Clingers won't explode when the object to which they were attached is destroyed. They will be susceptible to the forces of gravitation and they will fall until they attack to another object or their fuse runs out.
- Shotgun equipment time was reduced from 0,96 s to 0,88 s.
- Players who have trouble with connection (for example, data package loss) will now have limited movement options until the connection is stable again.
- Players won't be able to use emoticons if their characters are holding pickaxes - the quick farming tactic is no more.
Content update 5.30 - 28.08.2018
Content update 5.30 is the last update in August. There aren't many changes, but Epic Games decided to add a new item - a shockwave grenade. The full list of changes can be found here.
Novelties:
- New item - Shockwave grenade. It's a grenade that can throw someone for a long distance, causing the victim to destroy everything on his or her way. After using, the launched character doesn't receive damage from falling.
- New LTM - Solid Gold: 50vs50 mode was changed. From now, only legendary weapons appear on the maps and in the chests.

Epic Games shared detailed data about incoming gameplay changes. All of that can be found here.
Most important incoming changes:
- Matchmaking changes (pairing of competing players). The developers intend to implement a rule - if you play on mouse and keyboard, you will be paired with other mouse and keyboard users, no matter whether you play on console, PC, or smartphones. Thanks to that, players who use mouse and keyboard on consoles won't have advantage over players who use gamepads.
- Weapon balance changes. The developers intend to restore the old effectiveness of pump-action shotgun by reducing the time required for equipping it. Other shotguns might be changed as well.
- Increasing the servers capacity. The infrastructure will be improved. Reducing lags and improving the servers stability is a priority for the developers.
