The Forest: How to quickly get a map and a compass? The Forest Guide
Last update: 28 December 2022
In The Forest game there is no way to navigate in the original - the player does not have a map, thanks to which he could find himself in the world of the game, there is not even a simple compass showing the directions of the world. Due to this, navigating the great island is extremely difficult, and finding the place we want to find again requires photographic memory or very thoughtful planning. However, you can remedy this by finding two items in the game - a map and a compass.
How to get a map and a compass?
Normally, finding these two items is practically impossible in the initial hours of the game - they are hidden in one of the caves, which is difficult to reach, and inside you can find a lot of opponents. A much simpler way is to use the mechanism of death in the game, more precisely it is state of being stunned, which follows the first "death". The player's character is then dragged into a cave by cannibals, from which you have to escape. Fortunately, it's always the same cave, and it's the one with the map and compass!
The process can be started at the very beginning of the game - then the chance of falling into the hands of enemies in the cave is negligible. So, find a place where you can easily die. A good place will be a high cliff - jump off it a few times to reduce health points to zero and cause the situation of dragging a character to the cave. After waking up, launch a lighter to brighten the surroundings, catch the ax and free the character.
After you land on the ground, go straight away from the landing place (you can see it in the picture above). Enter the small corridor, go a few meters and pay attention to the objects lying on the ground - there will be a lot of coins (Coins), and next to them, the map and compass you are looking for. Now all you need to do is turn around and go straight ahead to get to the exit of the cave soon and enjoy new items!
How does the map and compass work?
The functioning of the map may surprise some people - when it is lifted from the ground, it will be just a piece of white canvas that doesn't give the player any information. The map will be filled with moving around the island - the player's character "records" what and where he saw. This is especially useful when moving around a cave. However, the compass operates in a "normal" way - it simply shows the directions of the world. Both items must be previously equipped so that you can use them.
