The Forest: Caves The Forest Guide

You can enter the caves in two ways - you can either do it on your own, by finding the entrance, or get dragged there by force (the moment you die the first time, you aren't really killed, instead, you wake up in a cave with low health).

Travelling through the caves is problematic, at the very least, as there's almost no light (aside from your flashlight, lighter and/or flares). The matter is made difficult by the fact that at the beginning you lack a map or a compass - anything that would help you navigate the cave, so you'll have to wander around for some time.

You should always remember about few things, while being inside the cave:

1. If you were dragged here by force ("you died" once), before you even think about getting out, you must search for anything to eat (or eat something from your inventory), because your health and hunger are on a dangerously low levels.
2. While moving through the cave, you should always sneak (by crouching, which can be done by pressing and holding the "C" button), which doesn't really slow you down at all. There's a simple explanation to that - the caves are swarmed with cannibals, who are in some sort of coma / inactivity, and don't react to your actions, unless provoked (which can be done by making a ruckus). Don't even think about sprinting - on an open space you might have a chance to outrun them, but inside a cave, with zero visibility, you are certain to run in some wall and the enemies will have an easy time killing you.
3. Don't shoot your flares and throw your Molotovs / Bombs everywhere, because it's almost certain that you will lure several groups of cannibals and you will be killed.
4. You can use a lighter or a flashlight for an easier navigation, as the enemies won't see you - they can only hear you.
5. Remember, that the cave, apart from being a pain in the ass trap, is a real treasury of rare items, such as a Flare Gun, Circuit Boards or Coins. If you have the opportunity, you should always ransack the cave you are in - but beware to not run into some Spider or Octopus Mutant, lurking in the deeper parts of the cave.

There are at least 5 different entrance to 2 caves in the game: two of them are located on the beach (one very close to your "ideal" place for a base, near the boat), and 3 of them are hidden deep in the forest. Because of the lack of map of any sort, it's difficult to show their location in this guide, so you will have to find them on your own.
