Farming Simulator 19: Sheep, tips Farming Simulator 19 Guide and Tips
Last update: 04 May 2020
Sheep are one of the easiest animals to breed in Farming Simulator 19. This is thanks to their low requirements - give them a bit of grass or hay (you can buy hay as bales) and water. The process of getting grass and hay was described in Grass, hay and silage chapter. Sheep's reproduction rate is moderate. They also produce wool which can be sold. Buy a pasture before you get sheep:
1. Smaller pasture - $65,000, will fit 60 sheep;
2. Bigger pasture - $180,000; will fit 250 sheep.
Sheep maintenance
Transport water with any tanker (even those for milk - all tankers are in Animals shop category). Fill your tanker by driving it into water. Then, pour the water into water tanks near the pasture.
Leave grass or hay (collected with a loading wagon or as bales) in the feeder near the pasture - remember to put it in a different feeder than water. Bales will be unloaded automatically.
As for sheep - you can buy them by standing next to your pasture. Remember that this will cost you extra $100 per unit. If you don't want to pay more, get a semi-trailer for transporting animals. Buy sheep from the animal trader (this shop should be marked on your map). The same extra payment is required when you sell animals.
- You need to be sure that the area around your pasture is clean. Collect hay/grass with any of the shovel attachments (you can use a front loader).
- Sheep don't need straw as bedding.
Production: wool
The production time for wool is irregular - the quality of production decreases over time. Because of that, it is difficult to estimate how much wool you will get. However, it is safe to assume that a production time for 10 sheep is 96 hours - this number is lowered by a half for every 10 sheep. The production starts slow, but it gets faster over time. After a few days, you should get around 1,000l per 24 hours.
- Tip: if you use bales to feed your sheep, you can decide to use your bale fork to load pallets. You can also use a bale trailer to transport pallets with wool.
Summary and profitability of sheep husbandry
Sheep are profitable - they generate a lot of profit and they don't need much work. You don't have to feed them that often, but you should keep a water tanker near a pasture to refill their water supplies.
- One full wool pallet gives you 1,000l of this resource.
- An average profit on normal is $1,000 for every 10 sheep per 24 hours.
- 30 sheep will give you 1 new sheep every day - this means additional $1,000.
