Farming Simulator 19: Cows, tips Farming Simulator 19 Guide and Tips
Last update: 04 May 2020
Cows are an animal known from previous parts and they are treated the same in Farming Simulator 19. Provide the animals with mixed feed, or simply - grass - to ensure the reproduction of animals, fertilizers production and, most importantly, milk (which usually sells for high price on the market). Available pens:
- Smaller - $100,000 (50 cows),
- Larger - $300,000 (200 cows).
Keeping cows
Grass or hay and water are enough to keep the cows. However, if you want to maximize the profits, you need a special mixed feed. It consists of:
- Grass
- Hay
- Silage
It is important to maintain the right proportions. The ingredients are prepared in a special machine for preparing mixed ration. Simply add bales or ingredients in loose form and, when attached to a tractor, mix them. Then you can serve a delicious food to the cows and enjoy a high productivity.
It is also worth provide the cows with bedding in the form of straw, they'll then provide manure. You can use it as a natural fertilizer in your field or wait until a lot of it accumulates and then sell it in the Biogas Plant (which you must purchase beforehand to be able to sell the manure).
- Tip: You can buy all the necessary ingredients for total mixed feed in the bale form in the store. The best way to do this is to prepare the mixed feed immediately in front of the store and you'll save the trouble of transporting the bales.
- You can simply drop loose straw through the fence. If the straw is in bales, you must use special machines from the Animals tab, which will chop it and coat the pen.
Production: milk
Cows primarily produce milk. You can transport it in special milk cisterns. In addition, cows produce both types of fertilizers: slurry and manure (when you supply them with straw). You can use them as fertilizer on your fields or sell them at the Biogas plant.
Summary and profitability of cow husbandry
Cows are a very demanding business: they consume everything you provide them with very quickly. You can buy food in the Store to make it easier for you at the beginning of your work. Please note, that total mixed ration is only an option: providing them with grass and hay/silage will also provide you with 100% production efficiency.
10 cows have a reproduction time of 120 hours. Daily, the cows will produce roughly:
- 2200l of manure,
- 1500l of slurry,
- 1600l of milk.
