Farming Simulator 19: Seasons 19 - Plant cultivation Farming Simulator 19 Guide and Tips

Last update: 04 May 2020

In Seasons 19, the cultivation system has changed significantly compared to the basic version of Farming Simulator 19. The mod, however, doesn't add any new plants. As always, how much you harvest depends on how well you took care of your field - weeding and fertilizing are crucial. This time, however, you also have to deal with weather factors (always be prepared for the worst), altered way of dealing with weeds, and new rules to follow.

Germination

Usually, germination failure happens only in small areas on the field devoid of plants; in critical situations, however, such as very low temperatures, it can lead to the loss of all seeds on the field - Farming Simulator 19: Seasons 19 - Plant cultivation - Seasons 19 - Farming Simulator 19 Guide and Tips

A big change in plant cultivation is the additional stage of growth - germination. It occurs immediately after planting, and if the conditions are unfavorable, it may end in failure. If that happens, you will need to plant again and spend more money on seeds. The success of germination is affected by temperature - the only way to succeed is to plant seeds when the temperature is high. The calendar added with the mod shows the temperature requirements for the plants. The next tab informs about the temperature resistance of these plants in the next stages of development. If the temperature deviates only slightly from the required, you will see only a few small places in the field where plants do not grow. High humidity is also helpful in successful and rapid germination.

Weeds

Now, weeds don't occupy the entire field. Instead, they appear in small areas.

Weeds, which caused a lot of problems in the basic version of Farming Simulator 19, "evolved" in the Seasons 19 mod. They now grow in a different way:

  1. You can get rid of weeds as before: using weeders and sprays,
  2. Weeds begin to grow only at a favorable (high) temperature; when the temperature is low, they die off (however, this usually also happens to other plants in the full growth phase),
  3. Now, you have the ability to spray the field proactively until the first weeds appear; thanks to this, no weeds will appear on the field until the crops can be harvested (as it was before, weeders only allow us to get rid of weeds in the early stages of development and do not have a "preventive" function).
  4. Now, the weeds don't grow on the entire field - your employees don't have to deal with them on a regular basis anymore, they are now a minor problem that should be checked from time to time.

Humidity

Humidity plays an important role in Seasons 19. The higher the humidity, the better your plants will grow. However, if it is too high, you won't be able to harvest. The increase in humidity, of course, affects irrigation and rain. The drying rate is affected only by the weather - temperature, sunlight, and wind. This also applies to the grass: if you mow when it is still wet, you have to scatter it to make it dry. If the grass is wetted, you need to dry it again. If it can't dry - it will rot.

To check the humidity in a given place, you can purchase a tool available in the store - Lizard MT-9, in the others category - Farming Simulator 19: Seasons 19 - Plant cultivation - Seasons 19 - Farming Simulator 19 Guide and Tips

To check the humidity in a given place, you can purchase a tool available in the store - Lizard MT-9, in the "others" category. This device allows you to determine various parameters of plants or fields. Simply select it from your inventory and hold the LMB (X on your controller) to scan. When the scanning is complete, you will receive a set of information about the object (provided you haven't selected the wrong object, for example, a car). For soil, you will get the necessary information about growth, hydration, fertilizer and much more.

MT9 can also be used to study trees. The device determines their growth parameter, the distance to other trees (which, when too close, can block each other from reaching their maximum height). In addition, you can use it to research bales.
