ESO: Gold, money - how to collect? ESO guide, tips
Last update: 26 May 2020
This page of The Elder Scrolls Online game guide explains how to get a lot of gold in the first hours of the game. We presented the main methods of acquiring gold (Septims) - the most important currency in TESO. Using the information provided below will allow you to make your first major purchases faster (like buying your first house).
Below we focused on Septims, which is the most important currency in Elder Scrolls Online. Other currencies are also available in the game, like Crowns, Alliance Points or Tokens. However, they are only used to buy very specific things, while you can buy most of the things in the game world by paying with Septims.
- Quests
- Other activities
- Loot
- Theft
- Collected loot - selling
- Crafted items - selling
- Daily rewards
- Daily quests
- ESO Plus subscription - getting more gold
- Crowns - is it possible to obtain them?
Quests
Gold can be one of the rewards for completing quests. The amount of the reward is not fixed - it depends on the importance of the completed mission and above all on the current level of the hero's experience (higher level = more gold).
Other activities
Of course, you don't have to limit yourself to completing quests. You can also take part in other activities.
This category includes, among other things, visiting dungeons, attending events, or taking part in battles in Battlegrounds. You can be rewarded for your achievements accordingly. Even if it's not gold, you'll be able to sell other rewards.
Loot
The gold can lie on the ground just like any other loot. But don't count on getting a lot of Septims in this way.
Septims can also be found in containers and as a loot of the corpses of defeated enemies.
Theft
Septims can be obtained in less legal ways, namely:
- By stealing gold from sealed containers and locked buildings.
- By using pickpocketing option to steal gold from NPCs.
Both of these methods are unfortunately risky. If you are caught during such an act and then stopped by a guard, then the penalty may be severe. Luckily, the game always allows you to escape, run away as far as you can and wait for the end of the chase.
Collected loot - selling
Another way to raise money is to sell:
- Items gained through exploration of the game world.
- Items that were stolen - you have to visit a fence, because "standard" traders will not buy stolen items.
Crafted items - selling
In TESO, you can craft various items and one of the purposes of this activity is to sell them later. Of course, it is only profitable if the selling price is higher than the price of all the ingredients you used to make the thing.
Initially, this method of enrichment may seem quite unprofitable. You have to invest a large amount of time in improving the skills of the main character so that he can craft quality items which can be sold for a good price.
Daily rewards
A very good method of gaining more money is to collect Daily rewards. Just log in once a day, go to the Notifications section and collect a daily reward.
One of the rewards is gold (Septims). The amount of the reward may vary and in extreme cases it may be as much as 10000 Septims. Nothing stands in the way of selling other things acquired from Daily rewards. The game does not prevent you from getting rid of them in any way.
Daily quests
Opportunities to perform daily quests appear after reaching the bulletin boards, similar to the one in the above screenshot. These are not complicated tasks - you have to, for example, acquire or craft an item and then deliver it to the designated location. You will be well rewarded for each delivery. However, the amount of payment depends on the current level of your character.
ESO Plus subscription - getting more gold
A passive way to increase the amount of earned gold is to buy an ESO Plus subscription. Players who have an active ESO Plus subscription earn 10% more septims. This applies to all types of gold-collecting activities.
Crowns - is it possible to obtain them?
No. In TESO it is not possible to obtain Crowns by doing any in-game activities. You cannot acquire this currency by completing quests, visiting dungeons or by performing other activities.
There are only two ways to get Crowns:
- You can buy them for real cash.
- Receive them with an active ESO Plus subscription - every month you will receive 1650 Crowns.
