10. Ratchet & Clank
What's that about? A classic platform game, in which players assume the role of a representative of the Lombax race, travel around different planets, and together with his robotic companion, experience interesting adventures.
It looks like we're a group of very sentimental editors - quite a lot of remasters and remakes of hits from previous Sony consoles were included on the list. Ratchet & Clank is a re-created version of the classic PlayStation 2 platformer that saw many sequels and spin-offs before Sony decided to go back to its roots.
During the game, you play as Ratchet, the last representative of the Lombax race, who, together with a robot he just met named Clank, are on the trail of a conspiracy that threatens the galaxy and – as a result – start a great journey to prevent destruction. We visit visually diverse planets – from a busy metropolis, through tropical paradise and eternal cold globes, to the gloomy interiors of spaceships -and collect currency bolts, jump between platforms and fight with opponents, using an ingenious arsenal of weapons.
Ratchet & Clank is a very solid 3D platformer, which above all impresses with its visual setting - graphic artists and animators as never before approached the illusion of creating a game that looks exactly like Pixar movies. Although the title is aimed primarily at younger players, older fans of platformers will also have a great time with it.
RATCHET IN THEATERS
Simultaneously with the game, Sony also prepared a film adaptation of the adventures of Ratchet and Clank, telling the same story that we find in the game, and even using some of the resources created for Ratchet & Clank on PS4. What worked in an interactive form, however, did not impress on the silver screen. Despite a relatively modest production budget of $ 20 million, the movie Ratchet & Clank earned only $ 15 million, proving to be a financial failure. The title was also disliked by critics - only 21% of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were positive .
