Vendrick | How to defeat a boss Dark Souls II Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Undead king Vendrick is a hollow who wanders around his crypt. He is an optional boss, which means that he won't attack the player right away. The hero has to hit him a few times to begin the fight.
Attacks:
- Horizontal Slash - the enemy performs a slash with a wide angle. He can attack one, two or three times in a row
- Vertical Strike - an attack from above the head
- Leap Strike - Vendrick makes a long jump towards the player and attacks as he lands
- Curse Orb - His hand starts to glow with a red light and after a while, he shoots a projectile that causes curse effect
Strategy:
The undead king has a special form of protection, which reduces the damage that he takes. You can use three ways here.
- Attack him right after you defeat Velstadt. You can't rest at the bonfire or leave the location. This way, his resistance will be close to zero and you will deal normal damage. The obvious disadvantage of this approach is that our hero will be exhausted after the first fight.
- You can begin the fight later, after a rest, without any Giant Souls in your equipment. The damage you deal will be reduce 32 times, but the boss himself is a rather easy one.
- Start the fight after collecting all the Giant Souls. There are exactly five of them and each one reduces Vendrick's resistance by a half. It means that if you have one souls in your equipment, his protection will be 16 times bigger and if you have two souls - 8 times. So of course if you have all the souls, his resistance will have normal value.
The strategy below assumes that you have collected five Giant Souls or fight right after defeating Velstadt.
The moves of the enemy are slow and easy to predict so you should have no problems staying behind his back. Stick a little to the right and perform your attacks. Most of his blows should not reach you. However, he may sometimes jump back and perform an attack from above his head, so be ready for such situation. If that happens, dodge, and then go return behind his back to continue hitting. After a short while his health bar should come to zero.
Rewards:
- 90,000 souls/180,000 souls (NG+)
