Poison - Status effects - Basics - Dark Souls II - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Poison

There are several negative status effects in the game, which can be placed upon the player. Every character has a particular amount of resistance to these effects, which reduces the chance of being affected by them. Resistance can be increased by using consumables, special gear, rings or some spells.

Description of negative status effects:

  • Bleed - Causes gradual loss of HP and decreases maximum endurance by about 75% for 5-10 seconds after being affected. Red Leech Troches increase resistance to bleed effect.
  • Curse - Makes the character hollowed and reduces maximum health as if he have died. A curse can reduce the HP bar to a half of it. This effect can be healed using Human Effigy.
  • Petrification - Turns the character into stone. It means that you die instantly and you loose a lot more than when dying the usual way. There is no cure for this effect, but you can increase your resistance to it using Triclops Snake Troches and Ash Knuckle Ring. NPC that were turned into stone can be cured with Fragrant Branch of Yore.
  • Poison - Causes fast loss of HP (about 15 points every half a second). It can be healed using Poison Moss or Monastery Charm.
