Vergil Boss Fight Guide for DMC5 Devil May Cry 5 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 13 March 2019
This page in our guide to Devil May Cry 5 focuses on the final boss - Vergil.
Vergil in Devil May Cry 5
Where to find the boss: Mission 19 - Vergil and Mission 20 - True Power
Character: Dante, Nero
The last two missions are fights with Vergil. First, you fight him as Dante, then you switch to Nero.
Vergil is extremely strong, fast, and can use various attacks. He can dodge, block your attacks, and attack you from a distance with phantom blades. Vergil can also use AoE attacks when you get too close to him. The enemy can adjust his combat style to yours. He is definitely the strongest boss in the entire game. Unlike in DMC 3, Vergil in DMC 5 uses only Yamato.
Start the fight and switch to Trickster style. You can also use dodges to avoid Vergil's attacks. Switch to Royal Guard (as Dante) when Vergil is about to use phantom blades. You can also avoid this attack by running to the side or jumping. Don't rush at him. Instead, you have to keep avoiding his more powerful attacks and look for an opening to deal a few hits.
When his health drops to about half, Vergil will start using his Devil Trigger. He can now deal even more damage, gets new attacks and can fly above the arena and charge at you. The best way to deal with him in this form is to wait until Vergil runs out of Devil Trigger - keep dodging his attacks or counter him by using your Devil Trigger.
When you fight as Nero, grab Vergil when he is weakened. This attack deals a lot of damage so use it whenever you can. Also, remember to use your Devil Trigger to regenerate health.
This fight is really challenging, especially on higher difficulty levels. You need to memorize all of Vergil's attacks and counter them in the right way. If you have problems, remember that you can use Gold Orbs to regenerate your health.
