Nero is the first playable character in Devil May Cry 5. He uses a sword, firearms, and a modified arm prosthesis - the Demon Slayer. Each hero has his own interface with specified features that differentiate him from others. They also have a specific controls scheme assigned to them: some of the buttons trigger characters' special abilities, others perform actions unique to a given character.

Interface

Every characters have individual skills or abilities bound to some keys - Nero Interface and Additional Controls in Devil May Cry 5 - Nero - Devil May Cry 5 Guide
  1. Health Bar (1) - You can increase the health bar by collecting blue orbs hidden across the in-game world or by purchasing them. The health bar is increased for all characters simultaneously.
  2. Ammunition (2) - the Exchange ability that involves firearms guarantees increased damage when the ammunition bar is full.
  3. Exceed (3) - you can recharge Exceed by pressing the charging key 3 times and holding it for a while. It is necessary to activate some of the abilities and slightly increases inflicted damage (only the first blow). You can unlock next levels of exceeding by upgrading it in the ability tam (even though all exceed bars will be used during an attack, the hit will inflict more damage).
  4. Devil Breaker (4) - Nero's Devil Breakers are visible on the right-hand side of the interface - you cannot change their order. After they are destroyed, the next cartridge will be used. You can destroy it by detonating it.

Firearm attack - shoot at a selected target (by holding the aiming button) or shoot from the hip. Hold, to charge the weapon and deal more damage (this ability can be upgraded).

Detonate Breaker - detonate to repel enemies and deal a lot of damage. You permanently lose the breaker.
