Death in DMC5 and how to avoid it Devil May Cry 5 guide, walkthrough

Last update: 12 March 2019

Your character dies when his health bar is depleted. Characters in Devil May Cry 5 can't regenerate health, excluding a few specific situations. Replenish your health by collecting Green Orbs - some of them levitate, while others look like "trees". You also have to collect Red Orbs.

Decide how many vitality bars you want to regenerate.

The easiest way to lose all your health is during the boss fights. The game gives you two options - go back to the main menu or revive your character. The latter can be done with Gold or Red Orbs.

  • You can find Gold Orbs in hidden places during missions. You can spend Red Orbs on them at the shop. However, the shop offers a limited quantity, meaning that sooner or later, the shop will run out of stock. You get 1 Gold Orb every time you log into the game. You need only 1 Gold Orb to regenerate your health.
  • You can also regenerate health with Red Orbs. The effect is the same as when you use Gold Orbs, however, the price is rather high - you need to pay the required number of Red Orbs. The game allows you to choose how many vitality bars you want to regenerate.

Note: reviving your character by using any of the available methods reduces the mission score (by 0.3x) - this means that you will get less Red Orbs and a lesser rank. The latter is important when you are trying to unlock a trophy/achievement.
