Weapons are one of the basic elements of equipment that the titular hero, Dave the Diver, will use during his exploration of sea depths. Basic firearms are unlocked at an early stage of the game, but upgrading and getting better weapons will require some commitment from you.
Where and when you'll receive your first weapon?
The first weapon - Basic Underwater Rifle - is awarded during one of the first story missions in the game. Duff, an inventor and the owner of a weapons shop, will ask you to find certain resources while on a dive - Rope, and Scrap Iron. These materials are easily found even on shallower regions of Blue Hole.
If you didn't manage to get the required resources during the first dive after receiving the mission, don't worry. You can just as well embark on a new dive and find them there - Duff will wait.
After bringing the needed materials to the surface and delivering them, Duff will reward you with your first weapon. Although Basic Underwater Rifle isn't that powerful, it will immensely help you during encounters with aggressive sea fauna.
In opposition to the harpoon (more on it on a dedicated page of our guide (How to upgrade the harpoon gun?)), firing from a firearm consumes ammunition. Ammunition may be a limited resource, but there are special ammunition crates on the seabed that replenish your supply when interacted.
After unlocking the first weapon, Duff's Weapon Shop is also unlocked, and you can access it on your hero's smartphone. From the menu, you can look up statistics of individual weapons, as well as craft new ones and upgrade currently carried firearms.
How to improve and acquire new weapons?
During your excursions to Blue Hole, you'll sometimes encounter chests with a weapon icon. In addition to upgrades and weapons available for the duration of a single dive, opening chests may yield Blueprints of new weapons. When enough Blueprints are gathered, you can develop a new weapon project from Duff's Weapons Shop by accessing it from the smartphone.
The materials required for the project differ based on the weapon.
As the game progresses, you'll also receive the ability to upgrade currently carried weapons by spending specified materials. This is also done through the smartphone.
