Dave the Diver is a relaxing game, but not a cozy one. On this page of the guide you will find out if there are scenes that are inappropriate for sensitive audiences or those with tallasophobia.

The overall tone of Dave the Diver is rather relaxing. It has a humorous story about a diver and his friends running a restaurant. Contrary to other games such as this year's Dredge, the sea depths in Mintrocket studio's game don't feel like a foreign, hostile and dangerous place. Nevertheless, certain elements of the game may cause anxiety in more sensitive players.
Are there sea monsters?
Although in Dave the Diver you won't likely encounter deep-sea abominations straight from Lovecraft's tales, the marine fauna will often be hostile towards the protagonist.
Aggressive fish, jellyfish, or sharks are permanent elements of the underwater world - be prepared to encounter them when diving further into the Blue Hole. At a certain point in the game, your path is blocked by a giant squid you have to defeat.
The game also has a theme of the civilization of underwater people. However, this is presented in a fairly light-hearted way, and the inhabitants of the sea depths look like stereotypical mermaids from pop culture.
Ocean depths and running out of oxygen
Despite the heavily stylized 2D graphics, Dave the Diver quite suggestively conveys the impression of depth during each expedition. Shallow and full of light waters turn into darker, mysterious abysses composed of twisted corridors etched into a rock by sea currents.
Players suffering from severe thalassophobia may experience a disturbing sensation during the game as they venture deeper into the ocean. This discomfort can be further intensified by the game's mechanic of depleting oxygen. Although Dave never actually drowns when he runs out of air, as he is rescued by the ship's crew, the pressure of running out of this resource can be another disturbing factor.
Players who experience ocean-related phobias should consider the above-mentioned elements before deciding to play this game.
