Changes in the gameplay in Battlefield 5 Battlefield 5 Guide and Tips

Last update: 13 July 2018

This chapter focuses on changes introduced by Battlefield V. Here, you can find the full list of changes and new mechanics available in the game.

Below you can find the list of smaller and bigger gameplay changes.

  1. Towing artillery and cannons - you can use tanks and half-trucks to tow artillery equipment. Approach a cannon while driving backwards and then press the key that allows you to repair vehicles.
  2. Fortifications - each class can fortify points with sand bags, barbed wires etc. Support soldiers will probably be the fastest at fortifying.
  3. Health regeneration - health points are divided into segments. The game features auto health regeneration but you can't get your entire health back. Only medics can fully heal you (you can also do that by using medical chests placed on a map).
  4. The Company - this system allows you to customize your appearance and weapons.
  5. Buddy drag - this mechanic allows you to move wounded allies somewhere safe.
  6. Dynamic weather - each match has randomly generated weather.
  7. Increased destruction - weapons with a higher caliber will be able to penetrate certain surfaces. Objects will also react differently to how they were destroyed and from which direction. Sometimes, they can also slowly collapse and get destroyed when they receive enough damage.
  8. Recoil - each of the weapons has unique recoil. Furthermore, the game won't randomly change the trajectory of your shot - your shot will land right where you want it. Of course, travel time system is still active when your bullet is in the air.
  9. Reanimating allies - from now on everyone can reanimate their fallen comrades. However, this process will take a lot of time. Medic is the only class that can reanimate others fast.
  10. Spotting enemies - you can't use Q key anymore to mark enemies - they are visible on the map only when you aim at them (or when one of your allies does that) or when you and your allies use gadgets that can reveal enemy positions (flares or a spotting scope).
  11. Co-op Combined Arms - the game will feature a co-op mode.
  12. Ragdoll - explosions that aren't deadly can make you feel their impact (provided that you are close to the source of that explosion). This will push your character backwards.
  13. Call for revive - thanks to this mechanic you can call your allies when you get gravely injured. This extends your bleeding out time.
  14. Limited ammunition - the overall amount of extra ammo is much smaller - e.g. a sniper can carry up to 20 rounds (5 rounds per magazine).
  15. Throwing grenades away - besides reduced ammo, all players will also carry less grenades. However, each grenade can be shot while it is in the air or it can be thrown back to its "owner".
  16. New range of movement - players can now sprint while they are crouching; pressing the sprint key while in prone will make your character get up automatically. Range of movement while in prone has been extended (characters have now similar movement set to that in Rainbow Six Siege). Pressing prone key while sprinting makes your character fall on the ground which is very useful.
