- Capture 28 settlements
- Maintain 80 units
First steps
Before launching any military actions you need to examine current political situation. The only friendly tribe is the Atrebates - initially, you have a trade agreement and a non-aggression pact with this nation. I suggest to focus on the Morinii. Offer them a non-agreement pact and trade agreement (if they decline, you may offer them a small tribute) - this way you will secure your western borders. Time to head east. There are the Eburones here, who are having a military treaty with the Treverii. Since this faction is neutral toward you, but also expansive and treacherous, you should eliminate them as soon as possible.
Once you declare war, you should quickly send your army into the east, recruit mercenaries and strike at an enemy town. On capturing Atuatuca you get to control the entire Germania Inferior, thus making it possible to issue an edict in the very first turn of the game! Right now you should use Migration in order to increase the population growth rate in the province. Later on you may change it to Bread and Games or Harvest Taxes.
Another step is to invade the south, specifically strike at Trevorum, so to eliminate the Treverii from the game. In the meantime, recruit another army in your capital city, which would temporarily shield you from the expansive Suessiones. After conquering the southern province, you may strike at the lone Remi - since they are not allied with anyone, they should not be a challenge for you. The last step is to defeat the Suessiones and prepare for war with their ally. In the meantime, the first army may attack the Mediomatrici (in the south) - yet another faction without any friends. Upon taking control over entire Aduenna Silva, you may make the province army-oriented.
Your next step should be defeating the Germans in Silva Nigra, then slowly expand your sphere of influence into the west. The campaign objective lays in the south, behind the Alps. Conquering Helvetia is time consuming; I suggest you to go around the Alps from the west-side, instead of struggling through the narrow mountain passage - fighting there is very hard and the marching tempo becomes much slower.
In order to conquer Insubria and Liguria, you are going to need at least 3 experienced armies. When the empire growth indicator reaches the maximum, Rome will send several legions - these will land in Genua, so you should be prepared aforehand to defeat them. After you conquer the two provinces, the last thing to do is to head west to Nabonensis and Gergovia, to finish the campaign.
The north-west Gaul has no value for you, however, if the local tribes become too aggressive, it may be necessary to invade their lands.
