The Nervi are the other playable Celtic tribe available in Rome II: Caesar in Gaul campaign. These barbarians start the game with just one region laying on the northern part of the map. However, owing to the proximity of geographic borders, such as the North Sea and The English Channel as well as the historical borders of Gaul, they can easily create a safe hinterland for themselves and continue their expansion in just two directions.

Most of barbaric tribes are Celtic too, which creates a lot of possibilities for potential alliances and confederations. The first encounter with outlanders will most likely occur in the south, upon meeting with Germans.

Their excellent starting position combined with the surrounding of a many provinces which are easily conquered makes it possible for them to create a strong country, which may even compete with Roman invaders from the south.

Starting bonuses

  • Citizen Valour: public order bonus for the presence of Gaelic culture (max +4)
  • Brave Belgians: +10% morale when fighting in your own territory or that of your allies
  • Belgian Asceticism: trade income from all buildings -50%

The above bonuses make commanding the Nervii much easier. You do not have to devote much time and money to many temples, because Citizen Valour can keep public order at high level. Moreover, since you are surrounded by the Celts, the conquered lands are immediately assimilated. Thanks to Brave Belgians bonus, you should not have any troubles with defending your own territory, and are able to easily push back any possible counter-attacks. Belgian Asceticism is a slightly annoying penalty, as it prevents you from getting wealth from trade agreements or industry buildings. It is necessary to invest into agriculture - this is detailed in chapter Province development: economy.
