First steps

Let us start with opening the diplomacy window and examining diplomatic relations between the neighbours - Victory conditions and the first steps - Factions - Arvernii - Total War: Rome II - Caesar in Gaul - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Let us start with opening the diplomacy window and examining diplomatic relations between the neighbours. The Cadurci are your defensive allies - you may ask them for military access and, in future, broker a trade agreement (at the moment your country does not border on theirs, but that will soon change). The Rutenii and Allobroges are other potential allies - I suggest to start negotiations with them as soon as possible.

In order to expand your territory, head west and north. Your first target should be the Lemovices, and the next one, the Bituriges. The two factions do not have any allies, which makes them an easy prey for you. By conquering the aforementioned lands you will take control over entire Gergovia, thus getting access to edicts. Migration is a good choice at the start, but later you will need to use Bread and Games, to make up for the penalty on public order from Noble Rivalry.

Capturing these settlements means controlling entire Gergovia. - Victory conditions and the first steps - Factions - Arvernii - Total War: Rome II - Caesar in Gaul - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Capturing these settlements means controlling entire Gergovia.

Other targets for your diplomats are tribes living in Pictavis. It is essential to keep temporary peace with them, because your armies will soon be busy conquering Aquitania - your next target. Only after capturing this "corner province" should you advance farther.

Since your armies are still stationing in the south, you may conquer Narbonesis - it is now the high time to capture the lands which belong to the Carduci and the Ruteni. To do this you may make use of confederation option (see: Diplomacy chapter) or take their settlements by force.

Having the three provinces secured, you are ready to strengthen your eastern borders and begin an expansion to the north, deep into Gaul. Your next objective is to conquer Pictavis and Lutetia. It is also possible that you will have to conquer Aremorica province in order to secure the western part of your country. Once you conquer these regions, you have nothing left to do but to head toward Italia to Liguria and Insubrii to finish the game.
