Ghana - part I | Ghana - Pursuing J. Rutland Tomb Raider: Legend Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Additional information: This is a rather challenging level, mostly because you will have to make a lot of precise jumps. Thankfully, there's not too much fights here. Furthermore, the opponents will be very easy to kill. The only exception is the final boss of this mission, however you shouldn't be worried about him too much. The same goes with the puzzles. For the most of the time, they will be rather obvious. I have to warn you, though. You will have to avoid a lot of traps along the way. Some of them will be difficult to spot.
You start off in a beautiful jungle. You might want to hear what Lara and her friends have to say (#1). Once you've regained a full control, start running forward. You won't encounter any traps or enemies at the moment. You should be able to reach a huge waterfall very soon (#2). Listen to the dialog. After that, make a single jump. You won't have to worry about hitting anything. The whole area is surrounded by water.
Start swimming towards the central area of this complex. You shouldn't have any problems locating the small island. There's a huge construction here. You will have to activate it. Head on to the right ledge. You will have to climb up to the top platform (#1). Now make a jump towards a single rope (#2). Thanks to that, you will unlock the first part of the mechanism.
There's only one more thing left to do. You will have to use the grapple (#1). Aim at the highlighted object and start pulling the rope towards Lara. You will activate the whole mechanism. A very interesting cut-scene will appear on the screen in a short while (#2). Lara will meet Rutland for the first time. Don't worry... you'll catch him in the near future.
Once you've regained a full control over Lara's movements, start running forward. A lot of these tunnels are very dark, so it would be wise to use the flashlight. Once you've reached the new tunnel, use the grapple and start pulling the small platform towards Lara (#1). Make a jump towards it. Now you will have to reach some ropes (#2). Thankfully, these jumps are very easy. You should be able to reach the opposite end of this tunnel without any problems.
Lara will be interested in one of the surrounding statues. You can ignore this conversation. Keep moving forward. Be careful, though. There's an enemy nearby (#1). It would be wise to make a surprise attack, so you won't lose too much health. There are some traps in the next corridor. Surprisingly, they are all inactive, so you don't have be prepared for anything in particular (#2). Just keep moving forward (you will have to make a dive roll move at some point).
You should be able to reach a very large cavern in just a few seconds. There are a lot of enemy soldiers nearby. You will have to kill them all. I would recommend using crates and other huge objects for much needed cover. You can also aim at the highlighted objects. As a result, you will trigger at least a few decent explosions (#1). Watch out for the single soldier standing by the heavy machine gun! It would be wise to take him down as soon as possible. Once you're done with this problem, head on to the big balcony (the one with the heavy machine gun). You will have to make a jump in order to climb up to the upper floor (#2).
Step up to the heavy machine gun. You will have to use it now. Try aiming at the pillar, located by the left wheel (#1). As a result, you will activate the first part of the huge mechanism. You will be able to take a closer look at it during the cut-scene. DON'T go back to the lower floor. Instead, turn left and start moving forward. There's a small platform here. You will have to make a jump towards one of the posts attached to the big wheel (#2).
You can start swinging on the metal pole. Wait for the wheel to make a turn. As you've probably suspected, you will have to reach the nearby rope (#1). Thankfully, it's a rather easy task. You should find yourself on a new balcony. Turn right. Use the grapple in order to pull the metal platform towards Lara (#2). Wait for the right moment to make a jump towards it. You can't miss the platform. Otherwise you'd have to repeat the whole combination.
Use the grapple once again. This time you will have to aim at the new highlighted object (#1). Thanks to that, you will be able to reach a third balcony. You can take a look at the left corridor if you want to. Sadly, you won't be able to use it at the moment, because the traps are inactive. Turn around and start moving forward. Head on to the inactive wheel. You will have to reach one of the metal poles (#2). After that, make a jump towards the second pole.
