Mission 4 - Operation Market Garden | Allied | Campaign Sudden Strike 4 Guide
Last update: 30 August 2017
Mission objectives:
- Capture and hold the bridge over the river Rhine
- New objective: hold your positions in the city
In this mission you only have infantry so choosing the infantry doctrine is rather an obvious choice. You can get a few transport vehicles but the fight will move quickly into the city. This is where infantry is the most useful. This mission is very short and rather simple.
You start with a big infantry squad. Go to every marker given to you by the commander (1). You come across an infantry group in each of the locations. When they suffer enough losses they will start to retreat. After that you must deal with squads in the outskirts of the city (2), however, they don't stand a chance against your units. Remember to keep your Medics in the back and heal injured soldiers after each fight! There is a bigger enemy group near the pontoon bridge (3). Throw grenades at the Germans to quickly deplete their forces. After that you will receive additional reinforcements.
Enter the city and start scouring the area. You will meet small groups of enemies. Before you cross the bridge you should place your troops in the buildings right next to it (4). If you can, you should place a few mines on the bridge and on the roads between the buildings. Leave most of your forces in the city and send only a small group on the other side of the bridge (5). There, you find Germans that will start chasing you. You receive an order to get into the buildings in which you should already have your troops. Enemy infantry will start attacking you from all directions as well as from the other side of the bridge. If you still have the order to hold your position, even if you defeated all enemies in the area, then it means that a small group is still on the opposite shore. Send a few units there to lure the enemies to your positions. After eliminating them a new attack will start. This time you won't be able to fight back, however, the mission will be successful.
