Coordinates and traveling | Guide of the interstellar traveler Starbound Guide

Each stellar system, planets, moons, etc. have unique coordinates. Each coordinates have two values X and Y, and they are required to get to a specific destination. The digits of the coordinates need to be entered in the appropriate fields (X and Y) on the navigation screen. There also is an option of selecting random coordinates by pressing the "Find random" button, under the fields for coordinates.
Apart from operating on the complicated coordinates, to move across the galaxy, you can use an easier method of determining the destination. All you need to do is use the galaxy map, select the appropriate stellar system and celestial body, and then to start your engines. This method is useful only in the case of the random exploration of the galaxy and it is a good idea to take down the coordinates of the more interesting planets, so that you can return to them later on.
Finally, it is worth adding that, although the stellar systems and planets are generated procedurally, the coordinates are unchangeable. This lets you share the coordinates of planets with the others, thanks to which the players can visit exactly the same places in their own worlds.
