Combat is an inseparable element of the game. The abundance of enemies that you encounter during your travels will be hostile towards you. For that reason, you should always carry a weapon around.

The basics of combat are easy to master. Before you will be able to attack, you need to select your weapon. It needs to be placed in the shortcut bar L/P or under any of the numerical shortcuts (1-9). After you have selected the weapon, it will be highlighted and it appears in your hands, ready to use. You attack with the LMB or the RMB. Additionally, if you use a firearm or the bow, you need to target the enemy with the mouse pointer.

In the game, there also exists division into the right and the left hand. This means that, if an item can be held in one hand, it only takes one of the hands. For example: in your left hand, you can place a one-handed sword, and a flashlight in the right, to illuminate your way across a dark cave. You can also use two swords at the same time or use the dagger and the revolver. You only need to remember to place the weapon in the L (LMB) or R (RMB) shortcut.
