How to start in Project Hospital? Project Hospital Guide, Tips
Last update: 16 November 2018
This short chapter will help you quickly understand how to start managing your first hospital in Project Hospital. With the guide to Project Hospital you will be able to quickly start your first game!
At the very beginning, it is worth considering which wards to build and what should be the treatment focus of your hospital. The Emergency ward is one of the easiest wards to start, the diseases diagnosed there are not particularly problematic. Build the foundations, entrance and start building your first ward together with the clinic - you can use prefabricated elements, i.e. ready-to-build rooms for this purpose. During the construction process, the game will tell you what should be in the ward (hospital management screen - default: F7). In the picture below, on the left and right under the Rooms, you will find a list of rooms that you can build. Note that on the left side there are general rooms or rooms belonging to the clinic, and some of them are optional (e.g. reception). On the right side you will find the rooms that you have to build - they are used to hospitalize patients.
When you build your ward, remember to build a Radiology Ward - although it will always generate losses, this ward is invaluable for diagnosis (it has not only X-rays, but also magnetic resonance and CT scanners).
On the right and left side of the pictures above you'll also find a list of employees who are needed to work during the day and at night shifts. By hovering the cursor over doctors (for example) you can see what specializations they should have and where you should put them. Usually, the doctors in the clinic need to be employed in the Office, and the ward doctors in the On-call room. The ward will function efficiently when you meet the requirements of all the lists shown in the picture above. Night shift and day shift can be toggled using the icons above the clock.
When you open your first ward and first patients start arriving, supervise their treatment - treat the symptoms of the disease, send them for additional examinations - it will raise your prestige, patients will be more likely to choose your hospital and your earnings will start to increase. When you have so much patients that you're unable able to keep up with the treatment and need to send some patients away, start to expanding your ward, assign more qualified staff - this is the moment when you should change the Certainty parameter. This attribute allows you to force the doctors to diagnose their patients better or worse - set it to high.
The decision on whether you want to build other wards is yours. You don't have to do this if you don't want to. If you want to make an investment, pay attention to insurance companies - which insurer offers higher treatment coverage of their patients - it will help you choose the next ward to build. If you don't have enough money to complete the construction, you can always take a loan - repaying the loan is very easy, especially when you complete the additional goals given by the insurers (completing them provides additional profits, e.g. in the form of money).
