In Manor Lords, as time progresses, villagers need more and more luxury goods for their satisfaction to be maintained which, in turn, allows the settlement to grow. This page of our guide is dedicated to sheep - we show how to raise sheep who are one of the sources of goods needed for the production of Clothes. You'll learn how to buy and maintain sheep, how many sheep you can have, how to create Pastures, and finally how to receive Wool and process it into Weave which is a basic product for Clothes.
How to buy sheep?
Sheep, like most animals in Manor Lords, can be bought from a Livestock Merchant. To be able to buy animals, you must:
- Build a Livestock Trading Post in the village. You cannot buy animals in the standard Trading Post.
- Assign a family to the Trading Post which will take care of procuring and delivering animals. Remember that a family member that is currently assigned to importing or exporting Livestock, won't be able to do other activities, e.g. work at the family plot's Vegetable Garden.
- In the Livestock Trading Post, in the Trade tab, choose import option next to the sheep portrait, and then use the arrows to specify the surplus you want to achieve. For example, if you have two sheep and want five, you must set the number to 5.
- After specifying the number of sheep, one of the family members assigned to the building will travel to the Tradepoint (when he arrives there, you won't be able to look up his current location) and then return with the bought animal.
- Once the animal reaches the Livestock Trading Post, it will be transferred to your Sheep Farm.
How to manage sheep?
To raise and maintain sheep you need a Sheep Farm. One building can hold up to 5 animals. However, you can build additional Pastures to make room for more animals. They are established similarly to farming fields, i.e. with dashing lines. The game will tell you how many animals you will be able to maintain on the pasture you are currently building before the construction is approved. Pastures are free of charge and their construction is instant.
Once you have Sheep delivered to your Sheep Farm, you need to assign at least one family to the building. The assigned family will spend time taking care of sheep and transporting created Wool.
Sheep can also breed. For the animals to be able to breed, you need to unlock Sheepbreeding perk. You will find it in the upper part of the tree, in the middle. It is possible to learn it after reaching Small Village level of the settlement.
What to make with wool?
Wool can be processed into Yarn. To do this, you need to have a Weaver Workshop Extension - it is best to place one near the Sheep Farm building for faster transport of the goods. There has to be a family assigned to the Weaver Workshop.
The Weaver Workshop will convert wool into Yarn. The family assigned to this building will automatically sell crafted goods on the Marketplace, which will satisfy the settlers need for Clothes, and this is a mandatory step to upgrade the Burgage Plot to level 2.
From Yarn, you can also make Cloaks - a supply of them is needed to upgrade the Burgage Plots to level 3. To be able to craft Cloaks, you need to build a Tailor's Workshop at one of the Plots (available from level 3) You will also need Dyes - they can be created from Berries in Dye Workshop
