The wealth of a region is one of the most important indicators of how successful your settlement is in Manor Lords. As the name suggests, this is the total amount of money owned by all residents of a region. At the beginning of the game, however, you have no opportunity to earn money, which forces you to manage your gold wisely. On this page of the guide, we have described why you need the region's wealth and how to increase it.

Why do you need the region's wealth?

A region's wealth represents the combined wealth of all the inhabitants of your settlement, so it functions as a currency - Manor Lords: How to get Regional Wealth? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

A region's wealth represents the combined wealth of all the inhabitants of your settlement, so it functions as a currency. It has several main uses, and all are important. These are:

  1. Building Extensions - by spending your Wealth, you can add useful facilities in the yards behind Residential Plots. These include, e.g. chicken coops, goat pens or vegetable gardens. Extensions allow the production of processed resources such as food or hides that are needed for the survival of your settlers. Increasing the level of a plot will unlock the option to build Extensions where you can craft complex goods such as beer, clothes, weapons, or armor. After building a Marketplace on one of the plots, the villagers will set up their stalls there, allowing other inhabitants to stock up on their products. This will increase the Approval of your subjects, resulting in more villagers arriving to live in your settlement.
  2. Trade - after building a Trading Post, you can start trading resources with traveling merchants from outside your lands. Your region will always be in need of something it can't produce - be it raw materials, agricultural products or processed goods. Therefore, it is needed to fill up the blanks with trading - unfortunately, importing goods is always more expensive than exporting, so you need to have a steady flow of money to be able to maintain a source of a given resource. You can also spend money to establish a Trade Route - it is not absolutely necessary in case of smaller trading, but having one will make sure that it will take place regularly, every month, not only when a merchant visits your village.
  3. Purchasing Livestock - to buy more livestock such as oxen, horses, or sheep, you require Wealth points. More Livestock will optimize the working efforts of your village and allow you to do and build more at the same time, which will be necessary as your lands grow.
  4. Taxes - after building a Manor that will be your home, you can set the severity of the taxes collected from village inhabitants. Taxes reduce approval, but they are a source of income for your treasury. You can spend the money from the treasury on diplomacy, hiring mercenaries, and settling new regions.

How to increase Wealth?

There are two main ways to increase the Wealth of a region - Manor Lords: How to get Regional Wealth? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

There are two main ways to increase the Wealth of a region. These are:

  1. Trading - selling surplus resources is the most efficient way to earn money in the game. In the Trading Post menu, you can set how much of a resource you want to keep for the village - this amount will be left, and the surplus will be exported to other regions. Each region has at least one resource that is marked with a crown - these are the resources you should export, as you have a surplus of them. It is also worth mentioning that processed goods yield more money gain than raw resources - for example, a single unit of Clay will be worth 1 Wealth point, but after converting it to Rooftiles, the same unit will sell for 8 Wealth points.
  2. Upgrading your Burgage Plots - advancing a Burgage Plot to levels 2 and 3 will provide you with a passive monthly gain for each family living in such a Plot. Before you can upgrade a Plot, you need to meet all requirements from its inhabitants e.g. access to a well, having a Church or an inn with access to beer, or enough variety of Marketplace wares.
