Chapter 9 - Balls and Beans - p. 1 Mafia II Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
ANSWERING THE PHONE AND DRESSING UP:
The phone can be found near the entrance to your apartment #1. During your conversation you'll be asked to go to the Maltese Falcon for a meeting and to take a gun with you. Make sure to put on some clothes before leaving the building #2.
GOING TO THE MALTESE FALCON TO TALK TO EDDIE:
Despite what you might think, you won't need a super fast ride for this mission, so you won't have to waste a lot of time searching for a good car. I would recommend taking one of the tuned vehicles from your garage #1. Use the vehicle you've chosen to get to the restaurant (without damaging it on the way!) #2 and enter Maltese Falcon. Eddie will explain that the first part of the mission will be to trail Luca Gurino.
REACHING FREDDY'S BAR WHERE LUCA CAN BE FOUND:
Make sure to check the bar area before leaving Maltese Falcon, because you'll find a new Playboy magazine here #1. You may now return to your car. Start driving towards the bar known from previous missions. Don't forget to keep your vehicle in great condition. A cut-scene will be shown when you're close enough to Freddy's #2 and it will feature Luca sitting behind the wheel of his sports car.
FOLLOWING LUCA:
Here are some important things you should know about before you start following Luca:
1) Luca's vehicle will be displayed on your radar as a red dot. You can't allow Luca to move too far away and you can't get too close to him. Thankfully you will be warned about both of these situations by the red dot changing its shape to one of two arrows.
2) You won't have to use the speed limiter while trailing Luca, because the police won't bother you. Watch out not to hit anything along the way, so that you won't lose precious seconds trying to get back on the road.
3) Prevent the car from sliding if you're using the realistic driving model. This will be very important on the freeway, because you'll be driving much faster there.
Start this driving mission by turning left #1. You'll soon have to make a difficult right turn #2 and you can't be seen by Luca.
You'll soon have to turn right for the second time #1. Remember to maintain safe distance from Luca each time when you're turning the car, but you also can't let him lose you. Eventually you should find yourself on a straight road leading towards Joe's apartment #2.
Get ready, because you'll have to turn left near Joe's place #1. You'll now be moving towards the freeway and obviously you'll have to watch out not to crash into concrete walls while making the turn #2. Luca will be driving faster than other cars on the freeway, so go ahead and also increase your speed.
You'll soon reach the Riverside district and you should slow down here, because you'll be turning right twice #1. The next part is the road leading next to the scrapyard known from previous chapters #2.
Keep heading north-east, driving across a small bridge along the way #1. You'll get to the slaughterhouse in a few seconds #2 and Vito will automatically park the car on the side of the road. Your next objective will be to gain access to the facility without being spotted.
FINDING A WAY TO GET INSIDE THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE:
You can talk to the man who is fixing his car, however it's optional #1. You would find out from him that you can use the sewers to gain access to the slaughterhouse without having to go through the main gate. Return to your car and find a hole in the fence #2.
