Chapter 11 - A Friend of Ours - p. 3 Mafia II Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
ESCAPING FROM THE BURNING VILLA:
The cut-scene will show a group of Irish gangsters attacking Vito's villa. Don't even think about fighting them back, because enemies will use Molotov cocktails and your top priority will be to escape from the burning trap. Start off by going to the bathroom #1. Turn right here and jump through a window #2.
REACHING JOE'S APARTMENT:
Vito is not carrying any weapons, so the only solution is to start running away from your burning home. I would recommend going south. Move back to a safe distance from the Irish thugs before you start thinking of a way of reaching Joe's place. You can break into one of the vehicles parked in front on nearby villas #1 or you can steal a car directly from the street #2.
Don't even think about trying to run over the Irish with your car and focus only on reaching Joe's apartment. Thankfully the Irish shouldn't pursue you, so you won't even have to drive fast. Park the car near Joe's place #1, enter the building and head over to the second floor. You'll have to knock on Joe's door three times #2 before he answers.
PUTTING ON SOMETHING TO WEAR:
Take a look around Joe's new apartment and you should be able to find a Playboy magazine near the large bed #1. Go back to the closet #2 and you'll soon discover that the only choice is Joe's ugly shirt. :-)
DEALING WITH THE IRISH IN THE PUB:
Leave Joe's apartment and then exit the building. Head towards Joe's garage #1 and sit behind the wheel of his new car (Shubert Beverly). You'll have to drive this vehicle to the Irish pub located in the northern part of Empire Bay. Try not to damage the vehicle along the way, because you'll need it later on during the mission. Park the car in front of the pub #2 and head inside.
You'll watch a short cut-scene here. Take cover as soon as you've regained control over Vito #1, so you won't be an easy target. I would recommend that you focus on killing the bartender first #2, because he'll be using a good weapon and he'll also have a great field of view.
Watch out for an enemy with a machine gun. He will be hiding near the passageway leading towards the toilets #1. You can look around the bar once he's dead. Collect weapons from dead enemies (remember that you've lost your entire arsenal during the fire), steal money from the register and drink alcohol if you want to make the game more challenging. You should also check a small area behind moving doors #2 to find a new Playboy magazine.
Start moving towards the toilets when you're ready to move on with the mission #1. Interact with the left door here #2 and you'll end up outside the pub. A short cut-scene will inform you that the leader of the Irish is escaping in a car. You'll have to catch him to finish the job.
CHASING AFTER THE LAST IRISH:
Notice that the car you've used to get here is parked in a different spot #1. QUICKLY sit behind the wheel. You can't wait too long, because police units will soon show up and this will make the chase more challenging. Ignore the police officers and start chasing after the last Irish thug #2.
Focus only on staying close to the vehicle you're chasing #1 so that Joe can continue firing his gun. He has to keep attacking the second vehicle until it's damaged and stops. Notice that the leader of the Irish has left the car and your job will be to run him over #2.
GOING BACK TO JOE'S PLACE:
Leave this area as soon as possible, because you're still wanted by the police #1. You can lose the cops easily by choosing a nearby freeway and you can also visit a workshop to repaint the car or to change plates. Drive to Joe's apartment and he'll automatically exit your car when you're close to the building #2. Joe will inform you that in the meantime you can use Marty's place as a hideout.
DRIVING TO MARTY'S OLD APARTMENT:
Marty's old apartment is located in the southern part of the map, in a district called Oyster Bay. Head over to a small alley between buildings when you get there #1 and then use the stairs #2. Explore your new home and interact with the bed when you're ready to start the next chapter.
