Action 09 February 2016

An old school shooter based on arcade classics from the Canadian team Vertex Op. We Are Doomed doesn’t have any plot, and we control a small group of polygons trying to break through a group of enemy polygons. Our main weapon is a powerful laser cannon, which can be charged to shoot more powerful attack, but at the price of deactivating it for a few seconds. There are two main game modes.

A dynamic action platform game in which the player, as the titular ninja warrior, faces an army of robots. 10 Second Ninja X is an improved version of 10 Second Ninja, a game that was released in 2014 on personal computers. Both titles were developed by independent studio Four Circle Interactive. On each level the player is tasked with eliminating robots scattered across the map as fast as possible – by using either katana or firearms.

An old-school 2D platform game developed by Tribute Games, whose best-known work is Mercenary Kings. The main hero of Ninja Senki DX is a warrior named Hayate, who seeks revenge on demons for the death of princess Kinuhime. The protagonists decides to cast aside the iron rules of his clan and set out on a lethal crusade against the residents of the hell, mythological beasts, and other enemies.

Created by City Quests Games, a third-person stealth action game set in the 16th-century London. You assume the role of “The Moth,” an agent known for her stealth abilities, who is also an ally of the Dominican Brothers. When the government spies reveal the true identity of the heroine, and some of her supporters get imprisoned in the Tower of London, the protagonist must set them free before the sunrise.

A classic two-dimensional platformer by Mexican studio EnsenaSoft. The action takes place in the unspecified future in which Earth has fallen into ruin, covered with garbage. After the collapse of human civilization, new life forms emerged and, having underwent numerous mutations, eventually turned into hostile creatures. Designed to dispose of not only garbage but also mutants, the eponymous robot, called MOP, is here to save the day.

A comical sneaking game developed by French studio, Moving Player. The player becomes a typical white collar working for one of the big corporations. The protagonist, who is notoriously late to work, is given an ultimatum: if he's late one more time, he's fired. When the main character had once again overslept after a party night, the only way for him to avoid the consequences is to sneak into his workplace without anyone noticing.

Conversion of the classic two-dimensional fight, which originally appeared in 1998 on the showroom vending machines. The plot of the game revolves around an attempt to close the passage between the living and dead worlds. The main distinguishing feature of mechanics is the possibility of choosing one of three different fighting styles, oriented on speed, strength or their combination.

Fighting canceled

A free-to-play two-dimensional platform fighting game from the independent studio Blue Mammoth Games – the creators of a browser MMO game Dungeon Blitz. The production combines elements of 2D fighting games and platformers. Gameplay comes down to engaging in combat on multi-level maps. The fighting system is purely arcade, so what really matters is speed, strength, mastery of combos, and the skillful use of individual abilities of particular characters.

The player assumes the role of the legendary player, Gabe Carpaccio, who finishes his sports career as a result of an accident and begins to sell sports equipment instead.

A two-dimensional arcade shoot'em up game. First serious commercial production created by the British studio Out of Bound Games. The plot of Laser Disco Defenders is set in a cartoonish sci-fi realm where the main characters defend the world against various threats. Our protagonists must retrieve a powerful artifact called Mirror Moon that had been stolen by evil Lord Monotone, who plans to use it for his (evil) purposes. The game is a classic 2D twin-stick shooter.

A dynamic multiplayer-oriented action game by The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild, and a combination of the mechanics of casual match-3 games with elements of such classic titles as Tetris or Asteroids. In Tumblestone, you shoot falling colorful blocks with a laser beam located at the bottom of the screen. Your goal is to clear all the blocks by matching three elements of the same color, which makes them disappear.

A sequel to the action RPG from the Japanese studio Gust. Nights of Azure 2 lets us revisit the dark fantasy world, in which humanity rules only by daylight, while night belongs to demonic minions of the Night Lord. However, we won’t see any old faces from first game, as the second game focuses on completely new characters. Players take role of Ashule, a warrior who dies while trying to defend her friend Liliana from a powerful demon and is reborn as half-demonic being.

An action game developed by Japanese studio Tamsoft for the portable console PlayStation Vita. The main characters of Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni are teenage female warriors that are the victims of the mysterious V virus which gave them paranormal abilities. The girls are living on an island isolated from the world and together they fight hordes of mutants. The mechanics of Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni are similar to ones used in classic Japanese TPP hack and slash games like Devil May Cry.

RPG 14 July 2016

Another installment in the jRPG game series developed by Nihon Falcom studio, which closes the Trails in the Sky trilogy. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd takes place half a year after the events from the previous installment. The player starts his adventure aboard an aircraft flying under the banner of the Empire of Erebor.

A classic adventure game developed by independent studio MidBoss. Assuming the role of a journalist, the player finds himself in cyberpunk Neo-San Francisco of 2064 and conducts an investigation so as to find the creator of the machine called Turing – the world’s first Artificial Intelligence with self-consciousness and an ability to think independently. The setting is retrofuturistic – the creators have drawn inspirations from the 1980s’ vision of the future.

An RPG with rougelike elements created by Compile Heart, a Japanese studio known from series such as Hyperdimension Neptunia or Record of Agarest War Zero. The player enters a fantasy universe in which a great war between the Heavens and the Underworld took place 1000 years ago. The peaceful lives of Underworld demons have been interrupted by the appearance of Trillion – the legendary god of destruction whose objective is to begin the apocalypse.

The title takes the players to feudal Japan and lets them take part in Battle of Okehazama and Battle of Sekigahara. The title is focused on stories of individual characters that we choose before the adventure starts. At the core of Samurai Warriors 4: Empires lies real-time combat with hundreds of units participating.

An upgraded version of the fourth installment in the Samurai Warriors series, which came out for the tenth anniversary of the franchise. Developed by Omega Force, the game was released not only for Sony consoles, but also for PCs. The game is a conventional TPP hack-and-slash, featuring spectacular battles. Samurai Warriors 4-II is set in Feudal Japan, and the player takes part in subsequent skirmishes, fighting both smaller groups of enemies and entire armies.

A classic jRPG with turn-based battle system, created by Tri-Ace and published by Spike Chunsoft. Its story takes place in modern Tokyo, where protagonist and his fiancée get caught up in a mysterious explosion. The hero awakes after some time in an unknown place and discovers that the explosion has been caused by the god Yamatoga, and which led the 12 victims of the explosion to gaining partial divinity and being transported to a new, better world.

Two-dimensional logic-arcade game, reminiscent of the popular Angry Birds series. Players take on the role of a tennis player who fights against a company producing an addictive carbonated drink. The hero uses tennis balls to eliminate his opponents, bouncing off various surfaces many times over.

A typical example of a metroidvania game. It was developed by an independent American studio Renegate Kid. The player assumes the role of a lone astronaut who is tasked with exploring the surface of four dangerous planets. Although the player can visit each planet from the beginning of the game (by using a spaceship), it is quickly revealed that, in order to reach hardly accessible places, they must first obtain various upgrades.

An arcade music game in which players control a small vehicle rushing at a constant speed through an obstructed tunnel. The title is characterized by a high degree of difficulty and a soundtrack composed entirely of songs from the genre of Drum & Bass.

Another installment of the farming simulation game series from GIANTS software. Contrary to most of the major entries in the franchise, Farming Simulator 16 was created solely with the PS Vita handheld console and mobile devices in mind. In the game, we traditionally assume the role of farm owner, and our task is to turn his possessions into a true agricultural empire.
