We Are Doomed for PSV, PS4 and etc. is an old school shooter based on arcade classics. It is a debut of Canadian studio Vertex Poop and, in fact, has been developed almost entirely by one man – Mobeen Fikree.
Game mechanics
PSV, PS4 and etc.’s version of We Are Doomed features no plot whatsoever, focusing solely on gameplay. Players control a small unit of polygons and face hordes of similarly shaped enemies. Their main weaponry is a powerful laser cannon with two modes, the second allowing firing a powerful energy shoot, though at the cost of deactivating the whole weapon for a few seconds. The game is a member of the so-called twin-stick shooter, meaning aim and movement controls are independent from each other.
Game modes
We Are Doomed offers two types of gameplay. One is Wave Mode that requires players to survive thirty waves of opponents, each being a challenge in its own right. They differ not only in their strength, but also types of attacking units and tactics they use. Another option is Endless, where players face infinite number of enemies. Obviously, winning is impossible and – sooner or later – every player will make one mistake too much, ending a sessions. Because of that, the objective is to survive for as long as possible to beat records, both our and of every other user.
Technical aspects
We Are Doomed has been designed with simple three-dimensional visuals, with single-colored polygons and many light effects. Battles are accompanied by electronic music composed by Robby Duguay.
