Destiny Video Game Series
Destiny
Destiny is a series of first-person shooters with a touch of MMO and RPG elements. The series combines a science fiction climate with fantasy elements: players take on the role of futuristic warriors using both firearms and supernatural powers. The main job here is to eliminate soldiers of alien races that serve the ancient cosmic Darkness. During the execution of missions, even the story missions, we can encounter other players and cooperate with them. The fun is accompanied by acquiring better and better weapons and armor, known from erpegs, as well as climbing to new experience levels and unlocking new skills.
Games from the series Destiny are developed by the studio Bungie Software (creator of the famous series Halo) and published by Activision Blizzard. Part one was released in September 2014, exclusively on consoles: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game received four expansions: The Dark Below December 2014, House of Wolves In May 2015, The Taken King in September 2015, and Rise of Iron in September 2016. The first three were released on the same consoles as the base game, while Rise of Iron only on PS4 and XONE. All four expansions (along with the base game) were included in a special package Destiny: The Collection, released in September 2016 for PS4 and XONE. The full-fledged sequel to Destiny 2 was released in September 2017 on PS4 and XONE, and in October of the same year also on PC. The game received add-ons Curse of Osiris in December 2017 and Gods of Mars in March 2018.
Games in the series Destiny are set in the distant future, in the XXVIII century. Some time earlier, humanity made contact with the Traveler - a huge flying sphere that decided to help the people of Earth to explore space and beyond. With the help of the Traveler, people colonized other planets, extended the length of their lives and enjoyed their Golden Era for many centuries. However, the period of happiness ended with the arrival of the Darkness - an ancient force hostile to the Traveler. A terrible war ensued in the Solar System, which almost completely wiped out humanity. The Traveler managed to banish the Darkness, but he himself was severely damaged in the process and froze motionless just above the surface of the Earth.
Under the motionless Traveler, humanity built the Last City. The security of the city is protected by the Guardians - people endowed by the Traveler with supernatural, even magical abilities. Using their powers and advanced firearms, the Guardians venture outside the City to confront hostile alien races that have spread throughout the Solar System after the Great War. The adventures in which we have the opportunity to participate take us not only to the devastated areas of Earth, but also to Venus, Mars and other celestial bodies.
In the second part of the series, one of the alien races invades the Last City and locks the Traveler in a technological cage. The Guardians are cut off from the source of their powers and, along with the survivors of humanity, must regroup in the wilds of Earth.
Before starting the game, the player must choose one of three classes of Guardians: Titan is a flesh-and-blood soldier specializing in front-line combat, Hunter is a fast and agile scout, and Warlock is the futuristic equivalent of a wizard or witcher - a warrior using magical powers.
The Warlock's primary weapons are various rifles, shotguns, snipers and rocket launchers. As we unlock new skills, we also gain access to offensive and usable special abilities, such as summoning a blazing gun, shocking enemies with lightning, creating a shield or performing a double jump.
Both parts of the series offer a variety of gameplay modes. Story quests somewhat resemble single player modes from other games, but in Destiny we can meet other players in them, who will help us deal with our opponents. We can explore the locations available in the game in Patrol mode, performing public tasks, collecting resources and attacking encountered enemies. For fans of close cooperation, Strike and Raid missions were prepared, where we face numerous enemies and bosses together with our companions. There are also PvP modes in which we can fight against other players, either in team battles or each against each other.

Destiny 2 is a sequel to the best-selling FPS developed by Bungie Software. This time, Bungie is aided in the development process by Vicarious Visions, creators of Skylanders and some other games. Destiny 2 introduces many new changes and improvements, not only concerning the story (this time, the story will play a bigger part than in the first game), but also in the gameplay mechanics. In Destiny 2, we will visit completely new, enormous locations (i.e. Saturn alone will be bigger than the entire first game), finding new, vibrant metropolises. In the wilderness, we will find both enemies and enemy checkpoints that are just waiting to be taken over by us. Planets known from the first Destiny will also be present in the sequel, but will be added on a later date. Due to the new technology used by Destiny 2, it won't be possible to import our characters from the original game. Transferring any sort of content from the first Destiny will probably turn out to be problematic.
