Solar Ignition in Destiny 2, Guide for Every Class
Check out our Destiny 2 guide on how to apply Scorch stacks as Titan, Warlock, and Hunter to create a Solar Ignition. Learn which aspect and fragment can help with stacking up Solar damage.
In Destiny 2, a Solar Ignition is a powerful explosion caused by an enemy being overloaded with Solar damage. It essentially creates a fiery AoE attack that damages the target and any enemies nearby. Read on if you want to learn how to cause a Solar Ignition with each class.
Solar Ignition in Destiny 2 Explained
The key ingredient for Solar Ignition in Destiny 2 is a negative effect called Scorch. It continuously burns the enemy with Solar damage for a short duration of time. When an opponent accumulates 1000 Scorch stacks, they reach a critical point. This overload triggers a Solar Ignition, causing them to explode.
Since basic enemies (red-bar foes) tend to have low health, triggering Solar Ignition through Scorch stacks becomes less practical. This strategy is best suited for tougher targets like elite opponents, champions, and bosses , as their health pools can handle the Scorch build-up before igniting.
How to apply Scorch and trigger Solar Ignition
- Warlock: Use Incendiary Grenades and combine them with melee abilities or Celestial Fire to stack Scorch quickly. Sunbracers (exotic gauntlets) enhance your grenade throwing abilities. Ember of Ashes fragment increases the amount of Scorch applied by your abilities, making Ignition more achievable.
- Hunter: The Knife Trick aspect with Gambler’s Dodge throws a scorching knife. Equipping the Caliban’s Hand (exotic gauntlets) makes these attacks more potent. Use weapons like Proximity Knife and equip Ember of Ashes fragment to build up Scorch stacks.
- Titan: The Consecration aspect is key. Sunspot explosions and Throwing Hammer can apply Scorch. Hallowfire Heart (exotic chest armor) fuels your abilities, allowing you to throw more Hammers and stack Scorch faster. For fragments, Ember of Ashes is the one you want to choose.
