VG247: 4 / 5 by Lauren Aitken
Where Shadowkeep’s story will take us remains to be seen, but the inclusion of Destiny’s core mechanics in a brilliantly revamped location has reinvigorated Destiny 2 just as it was starting to get a little stale.
IGN: 7.9 / 10 by Travis Northup
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is a big step in the right direction for Destiny, even when it feels like the first chapter in a larger story and subjects you to a brutal grind.
Game Revolution: 3.5 / 5 by Jason Faulkner
Shadowkeep had a solid campaign, though it ended prematurely for my taste. The expansion itself isn’t on the level of Forsaken, but it keeps the Destiny 2 machine rolling forward. I’m not personally happy with some of the changes that come alongside Shadowkeep, but I can see the imperative to reward players who keep regularly returning by spreading content out instead of releasing it in lumps.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Description
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is another story expansion for the MMOFPS Destiny 2. The expansion adds a new storyline, equipment, and a number of new activities. The devs of the base version of the game, Bungie Software (also known from the first few installments of the iconic Halo series), are responsible for developing and publishing the title.
Plot
In Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, heroes controlled by the players once again are taken to the moon, on which Eris Morn has unleashed a power she can't control. On Earth's satellite, Guardians will meet old friends and new enemies.
Mechanics
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep introduces a number of new locations, story missions and an additional raid - the latter takes us to the Black Garden, which is already known to the players. There will also be a new dungeon in the game - a mini-raid reminiscent of Shattered Throne, in which up to three people can take part.
The role of the main antagonists is again played by Hive, but we are dealing with new variants of enemies. Interestingly, we also encounter powerful opponents known from previous installments and expansions, such as Ghaul and Crota - they come back to life thanks to the power of the mysterious Darkness, so we have to face them again.
There is also, of course, no shortage of equipment to acquire. The list includes, among other things, three exotic items. These include a bow with explosive arrows, a revolver that lights up if we shoot it too fast, and a sniper rifle that enables us to create a special zone on our opponent, where attacking will result in additional damage.
The DLC also makes major changes to the armor system, enabling special abilities to be moved from one piece of equipment to another. We also receive a completely new category of items - artifacts. Each of them adds a separate development tree, enabling for much greater diversification of the available character variants.
Game modes
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep does not introduce any new game modes. We are still dealing with a multiplayer online shooter that requires an Internet connection even if we want to played solo. The expansion enriches Bungie Software's game with activities designed to play with others.
Technical aspects
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep does not make any changes to visuals of the base version of the game.
