Destiny Review: Bungie's great come back?
Bungie spared no expense to create a great looking mix of shooter and MMO, but high production value and pretty nice gameplay can’t hide that Destiny is just shallow, and it can’t live up to the hype.

Shacknews: 7 / 10 by Steve Watts
Destiny, Bungie's ambitious space opera, has vision in spades and is mechanically sound--but it falls short of its lofty goals.
Digital Trends: 3.5 / 5 by Adam Rosenberg
Destiny is a good game, but not a great one. You'll want to spend tens of hours with it, but you'll wish certain things could be better all the while.
Kotaku: by Kirk Hamilton
Fun on a basic level, extraordinary at its farthest reaches, but marred with some frustrating, hopefully patch-able flaws.

Destiny Description
Destiny for PS4, X360 and etc. is the first game set in new sci-fi universe created by Bungie Software, previously known mostly thanks to Halo - an extremely popular series of first-person shooters dedicated for the Xbox family consoles. Similarly to the Master Chief games, the main character in Destiny also takes part in battles with enemy civilizations. However, for a change, this time the players can fight with other players.
Story
The story takes us into the future of the XXVIII century, when after the unexpected end of the Golden Age, the humankind is on the edge of extinction. According to legend, the only solution for the unknown enemy, who devastating our species turn out to be the mysterious, enormous alien ship, called the Traveler, which similarly to a second moon is hanging just above the surface of the planet. The survived people joined the forces and built the Last Town on Earth, which was the base for rising civilization. Now, however, the danger came back, and hostile creatures try to exterminate humanity completely.
Mechanics
The players portray the Guardians, who are able to use the extraordinary powers supplied by the Traveler. Guardians were divided into three different classes: Titan has got heavy armor and high firepower, Hunter prefers to do the tasks from concealment and is extremely good at wielding of sniper rifles, while Warlock specializes in using magic. Destiny promotes common play - although theoretically you can play without looking at the others, the players often meet people who can help them achieve specific objectives, finish quests etc. There are also elements of rivalry. Destiny for PS4, X360 and etc. has its own multiplayer fights mode, which has been integrated with the rest of the game. At any time, the player can take part in the fight against other players, and to this, there have been prepared separate maps and special modes.
The world of Destiny is not only the Earth but also the Moon and other planets of the solar system and even spacecraft wrecks floating in space. Each player can get his/her own spaceship, which will help to explore the farthest ends of the galaxy. There are also various opponents on our way, for example, insectoid aliens known as the Fallen, Vex robots, which can travel in time or zombie-like creatures.
Technical aspects
Destiny is based on the author's Bungie studio engine written for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so the production is one of the most beautiful games of the period. Similarly, the high levels present music. The soundtrack was composed by Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori, the authors of the music created for Halo, and Paul McCartney, the former member of The Beatles.
Misc.
The game has its own application for smartphones and tablets, which constantly sends the players the latest news from the virtual world, such as notifications of upcoming tasks and plans of our friends. Thanks this application, the player can easily support friends at any given time without logging to the game.

"Video games as a service" is usually associated with unfair microtransactions, lacking content and watered-down story – but there's more to it. The term also implies an opportunity the devs have to mend the things that don't work properly.
